I miss when the unreasonable arguments about quarterbacking involved Brady v. Manning. At least deities weren't invoked.

Detroit has far and away the best defensive line of the chump teams (including the paper-tiger Jets) that Tebow has faced.

Do people who dislike the idea of Tebow playing quarterback so much (at least long-term) think that he'll never get any better? I mean, the dude has started, what, seven games in the NFL over a season and a half? It's obvious Urban Meyer didn't really give a shit about coaching him to throw a football the right way. Who is to say you can't spend an entire off-season coaching him and letting him work with, say, someone like Norm Chow on his mechanics and his footwork? Yes, it might not work, but a lot more time has been wasted on people who clearly cared a lot less. Look at Alex Smith. Look what he's finally been able to accomplish with decent coaching. I don't see why that's out of the realm of possibility for Tebow.

People are so hung up on doing things "a certain way" in the NFL. Everyone is terrified to try real innovation because they really can't stand the heat from the braying dipshits who scream, scream, scream when you try something unconventional. I don't see why you couldn't use Tebow like a 6th man in basketball, bring him in for a few possessions a game to jump start your offense or scare the hell out of the other team. Or bring him in for red zone stuff. Bring him in on every third down, line him up next to your "real" quarterback in the shotgun, and fuck with people's heads.

I've said this before but every coach in the NFL thinks they're the greatest goddamn coach in the world, but they can't do a damn thing for Tim Tebow. He's a lost cause. They wouldn't even touch him. (Throw up your hands in disgust!) Yet they'll all be climbing over one another to draft the next Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russel or Todd Marinovich.

I want to see a coach with some actual credibility (Not Josh McDaniels) put in some time and see if they can get his accuracy up 10 points. Mike Vick was a pretty inaccurate early in his career. His best years in Atlanta, he completed 54 percent, 56 percent, 55 percent and 52 percent of his passes. If you can get Tebow to that level, you can win with him. You might not win Super Bowls, but you can win.

And yes, Denver's defense should get the lion's share of the credit for the 4-1 stretch, unless you want to buy into the idea that the whole team is energized by Tebow and couldn't muster giving a shit to play hard for Orton.

If you're not in it to build a Super Bowl-caliber squad from top to bottom, you're wasting everybody's time.

Then I would say 35 percent of the leagues franchises are wasting everyone's time. That's a cute little thing to say but it doesn't reflect reality. NFL teams also need to win to make money and increase the value of the owner's investment. To pretend the 100 percent of the teams are trying to win a Super Bowl each season is hilarious.

There isn't a person alive who could give a shit to even *watch* Orton play during that turd of a game against the Chargers.

    35% is way low.

No, that is reality. Some aspect of mass hysteria has been in place in Broncos football since the Orange Crush defense.

That was one of your dumber arguments, which is saying something. Kinda pointless for me to rattle off names. Anybody can look that up in a minute or two. But the fact is that defense is a much bigger reason for the team's success than Tim Tebow.

Was Orton even worse? Sure, you can make that argument. Doesn't mean it's all Tebow that is working right now.

Judging quarterbacks by their won-loss record is simplistic and inaccurate (No wonder you like the idea so much), especially when the sample size is so small.

At this point, Denver needs one of two things to happen:

    1. Tebow to continue looking bad and the team to start losing.
    2. Tebow to continue winning and showing improvement in his game.

Either is acceptable. Worst case would be for him to continue looking bad, but winning just enough to keep Denver on the edge of the playoff chase.

I think Herbert was asking that to poindexter, the one arguing in favor of Tebow.

If so, my bad. He really should use the quote function since his post was directly after mine.
