NFL Week 11: In four weeks we can put TEBOW!!!! in the headline

What is the argument, really, against Tebow? That the Broncos will win too much and get bad draft position?

Orton threw seven INTs in five games. That is seven times he gave the other team a short field, something Tebow never does. So he is at the very least an OK game manager in that respect. And although his wins have been defense-oriented, three of the four have involved a fourth-quarter comeback in which he played an integral role.

I understand that John Elway, and to a lesser extent John Fox, have to consider where this will leave them in 2012 and how much they can commit their total roster plan to this gimmick. I don't understand why fans would want them to lose and knock themselves out of the playoff race as a result.

So where do we think Orton lands?

    I say K.C.

At $2.5M for six games when they're most likely out of the race anyway? Can't see it. I do think the Bears are the top choice.

The Bears are 30th on the waiver list. Also, Orton can't step in and play right away just because he used to play there. He has to learn the offense. You think the Bears want to pay Orton's salary? I think they'll take their chance with Hanie and sign a cheaper veteran.

    Having said that:

Maybe, but that's a high-stakes gamble with a guy who has had one real stretch of NFL play that lasted a quarter and a half. I don't think $2.5M would be a bad investment if it's going to be the difference between 9-7 and 11-5.

Also it looks to me like the system Orton was running last year is fairly similar to the Martz system -- lots of receivers out in the pattern, shotgun, running is an afterthought so the QB is going to be mighty sore the next day. Don't know if there's a coaching link between the two, though.

The Broncos are more likely to lose game when he is quarterback than when Kyle Orton is quarterback. And no, a five-game sample does not disprove that.

Texans might also jump into the ring once they get a load of Matt Leinart on Sunday.

I see. They were supposed to go ahead and finish 3-13 because the mathematical probabilities showed that they should be better.

The idea that a bunch of possible playoff teams are going to go running after Kyle Orton just blows me away. I mean, yeah, if he's the best option, go for it. But if he's the best option, you're fucked.

Well, if you can prove that they would have gone 3-13, then I guess that'd be that. But you can't, so it isn't.

So the last five games show nothing, then?

Tebow avoids turnovers, the game stays close, he comes through on the final drive. Those are three traits that are looked upon kindly throughout the football universe.
