    It could be anyone.

Was it you who was talking about that? The Pats, Broncos and Colts all have major flaws. Of course everyone does. But on balance I'd say the NFC team is likely to bring a much stronger defense.

There's no great team. Maybe it will be a 9-7 Dolphins who sneak into the playoffs.

The Atlanta Falcons, who could make the playoffs ahead of two or three teams with winning records.

Depends on the matchup, of course. If Manning & the Broncos make it to the Super Bowl, I don't have confidence in them winning because of the stage and his lack of mobility. Unless Manning is up against Lovie Smith's Bucs... then I'm all in on #18.

In the overall, I just don't think you can win very easily with a fully immobile quarterback anymore. It's not just foot speed but the ability to extend plays.

While the NFC playoff mix will be a mess, in a one-game scenario in the Super Bowl, who knows. I don't think the Packers can survive the playoff gauntlet, especially if San Francisco gets in. But, if they do, I would never bet against Rodgers in a warm (and dry) environment. Eagles (or even Cowboys) could be a tough out. Arizona plays strong defense. Lots of variables.

I will bet money here on this board Miami is a playoff qualifier.

TV note today that Raiders DL Antonio Smith played for the Texans last season, meaning he is working on a personal 23-game losing streak.

As with all Raiders defenders, though, it's all good if the checks clear.

Manning is more elusive than people give him credit for. He's obviously not Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers in his ability to extend a play for 15 extra seconds, but he's very good at moving around in the pocket and avoiding the initial rush to buy himself an extra second.

I want the Bucs to make the playoffs.

They're 2-8 and two games back.

  9. In fairness, at least one of those wasn't an interception. It was a completion to the other team. Who else was he throwing to?

Agree completely with this assessment. And now it's getting cold. Early forecast is snow next Sunday at home against a sneaky good Miami team that will be coming in on 10 days' rest.

Then the Broncos go to Kansas City, which will be extra amped up in a Sunday night spotlight and the Chiefs coming off a 10-day break.

Home with the Bills. The back-to-back at San Diego and Cincinnati on a Monday night. End at home with the Raiders. I'll say it's an 11-5 finish but they got really beat up today with injuries and the road to the Super Bowl will have to likely be on the road.

Another problem is John flippin' Fox and his lack of time management abilities. They're sitting with three timeouts at the end of the first half after having just driven to finally score. Two-minute warning.

Rams run a screen for no gain. Tick tock, tick tock
Rams run up the middle for 6. Tick tock, tick tock.
    Rams run for 1 yard.

Finally, the Broncos call a timeout -- with 23 seconds to play.

Punt to the 16 with 16 seconds to play.

AND PFM TAKES A DAMN KNEE.

You finally moved the ball. You finally scored. And you take two timeouts with you on the plane home and the one you called all so PFM can take a knee??

Abysmal performance all around. They got punched in the face -- again -- and did nothing about it. Again.

If John Fox and Andy Reid played "Big Money" on Family Feud, they would both only get out one or two answers to the five questions.

That last interception looked like the Mark Sanchez Jets fans know so well. Looked like he was trying to throw the ball away, but left it in the field of play. I'm a little surprised there was no interference call on the DB, but that doesn't make the throw any better.
