Rutgers is petitioning the NFL to let them schedule the Jets for Homecoming next year.

Jim Schwartz: "I knew the rule -- you can't challenge on a turnover or a scoring play -- but I was so mad that I overreacted."

Such a mystery that his teams take stupid penalties and can't finish games and he is constantly having to treat his players like high school kids after they go one step too far. Their leader seems so poised.

So it's settled, Rex and Rob Ryan are their father's sons, blow-hard, over-publicized douche-bags. At least Buddy could get get it done when he was focused on 1 particular task, defense.

Man, there are a lot of bad teams this year.

The gap between the elite 10 and the middle class is about as large as I can remember it. Of course, someone HAS to claim those last playoff spots and get whipped on the road.

SI's Jim Trotter reporting that NFL is considering a ban on all blocks below the waist. Peter King had a similar note.

The game is going to be pretty close to unrecognizable at this rate.

That rule, if implemented, won't last long. Running backs will start to get clobbered on blitz pickups, then some star quarterback will go down due to a failed blitz pickup, and the rule will be eliminated.

Yeah, but deliberately going after someone's knees is just ridiculous. It's basically an intent not to cause pain, but to injure.

Or it's an attempt to make a block. The reports I've seen on this suggest it is very unlikely to happen. What the league should do is penalize cut blocks while an interior lineman is engaged regardless of where it happens on the field.

More importantly, enforce the damn rules that it has, especially when it comes to concussions. This is a story from the Plain Dealer about James Harrison's hit on Colt McCoy last season. Yes, it is McCoy whining and blaming the play for the fact that he is no longer a starter rather than taking responsibility for not being very good. But still, it is one more confirmation that the Browns' medical staff didn't even bother to check him for a concussion before letting him back out on the field. The league rightfully suspended Harrison, but dropped the ball by failing to penalize the Browns for endangering one of their own players with their incompetence. (Yeah. I went there again.)

What a surprise you want to turn this into a Steelers jack.

Technically it's a concussion-jack. The only thing he loves more than the Steelers is concussions.

That was one heck of a completion by Cutler. Sure, it was 8 yards short of the first down, but to escape that sack and put that ball where he did was pretty damn good. Of course, then he went after the offensive lineman.

This one has the feel of last week when the 49ers lived in the Chicago backfield.

    Don't forget salary floors.

Rashard Mendenhall, not so much. Huge fumble. The Steelers led, 7-0, on an interception return and had the ball near midfield after making another stop and he failed to take care of the football.
