It sounds like a question Mariotti would ask, but I'm sure he wasn't attending the presser.

I'm sure he'll write the proverbial "quarterback controversy" column tomorrow.

I just want to say that I felt sorry for the Raiders today. Seriously. Chargers wideout emulates Plaxico Burress and the Raiders recover with a chance to bleed clock while protecting the lead, only to see officials rule it an illegal forward pass.

    Wow.

That's almost funny, especially since I remember Vick trying to put a move on Urlacher last season and getting his mediocre ass knocked into next week.

It's time to throw down and say it: The people who still trumpet Vick's greatness prove they know absolutely nothing about pro football.

They should have. SF had the ball and a one-point lead with 10 mins to go. They drive it all the way down to the STL 6, or thereabouts, with about 4 mins to go. It's fourth and a millimeter. And I mean a millimeter. If they move the ball six inches, they get a first down by 5 inches. So after ramming the Rams down the field, Nolan's asshole puckers up, and he kicks a field goal.

Stupid, stupid STOOOOO-PIIIIID! Run a sneak! Sneeze on the ball. Get a goddam millimeter, get a first down, and eat the clock. Even if they don't score a TD, they can still kick a chippie after bleeding the clock or usurping St. Louis' timeouts.

You can argue that the defense should have did its job -- and have a valid point. But if you can't pick up a millimeter when you need to, or you don't trust your team to do that... then you really have no business winning.

Seriously, some in the national media who insisted Grossman would fail jump on every game he does less than great and try to start something. The guy just finished his first 16 actual starts in the league - for all practical purposes he's a rookie starter right now. He clearly has the ability to be a good NFL QB, but he's going to have days he struggles too. Brett Favre can throw five picks a game but we hear he's "a competitor". Grossman throws an INT and they start with the Griese shots on the sidelines like he's Joe Montana waiting to get in there.

Didn't see what happened. But even if its the worst call in the history of recorded football, I'd never, ever, ever never ever feel sorry for that team.

BYH, can't say I disagree with you there. This is one of those all-time classic losses that eventually will end up fracturing the team, and more than likely cost the coach his job. But if they beat the Cowboys next week...

In Rex's defense, I bet if you looked at Troy Aikman's first 16 games and Rex's first full 16 you'll see Rex trumps him.

I know Rex had 16 games spread out over three years, but it is unfair to judge Rex for a bad game when he's done so much for the Bears this year when they didn't have anything for many years before he came along.

That is exactly what I'm afraid of. That big "IF"

Yeah, that big IF is the Giants, in essence, holding a game lead on the 'pokes because of a 2-0 head-to-head.
