Yes, and we folks in the business sometimes tend to be TOO cynical about great starters. It's a hell of a start. ;)

It depends on how you define real deal.

I'm not saying he's going to win the Super Bowl. But he's a legit, bonafide NFL starting QB who, barring injury, looks like he'll be around for a while. The guy just looks and plays the part. This doesn't feel like someone like Shawn King, who seemed to be managing the game as a rookie. This feels like someone who has been groomed for this for years and is basking in the opportunity.

    Whatever happened to Shawn King?

Shaun King had a tryout with the Bucs and/or Colts at one point earlier in the year, I believe. He was a backup (and occasional starter) with the Cardinals last year, IIRC.

Pallister is right. He and Drew Henson are touring the country in a Winnebago, stopping wherever someone needs a no. 3 QB and plotting to kill Vinny Testaverde.

    Dear Mike Shanahan --
Jake Plummer is fine. Nothing wrong with him.

In other news ... there's no doubt Bryant Gumbel knows how to do an interview. But why in the world would you give someone a play-by-play job with no prior experience? Just brutal. Perhaps its because they know only 30 percent of the country will see these games.

I'm guessing that win was Herm Edwards' wet dream. Larry right, left and up the middle. Defense shutting down the opponent for the most part. No frills, just another W. And right now, that's just fine by me.

I think that would be good news for teams trying to catch the Broncos in the WC race.

Whether or not Denver squeaks into the playoffs or not is irrelevant. This season became about preparing Cutler for next year the instant the final gun sounded on San Diego 35, Denver 27.

Jake Plummer is who we thought he was.

I can only hope that it as irrelevant to the Broncos as it is to you.

Nothing would make me happier than a 2-3 finish from them.

Well find out if, and when, Shanahan makes the move to Cutler.

Coughlin had to call in Tiki, again. "Red - light" Tiki just can't keep it shut, no matter what. The NY Post's article (I think it was theirs) follows -up the report with a couple of notes, including: Tiki doesn't appreciate Coughlin talking down to him.

Earth to Coach Tiki: If you won't shut you bleeping mouth, and you continue to pursue your own selfish agenda, the coach not only has the right but the responsibility to tell you to shut it. If that's 'talking down' in your book, you're a moron.

So go hustle off to Sirius, or Fox, or your next commercial shoot and keep flapping those gums. Your team is one Vince Young fork from being all but done this year. The Cowboys are coming to town next weekend, and you're throwing hissy fits. Great job. You're making Shockey look like a leader.

Can someone explain this to me? Is there a reason why Coughlin has to continue to explain himself to the Tik - ster? Just like after the Carolina playoff loss. What is with the diva crap?
