Interesting, this .. degrees of 99-yard-plays stuff.

They aren't really new, though ... Are they?

Thought the Bucs changed like a decade-plus ago?

They're bringing back the creamsicle jerseys?

    Wonderful.

I'm sorry, but I'm with Cowbell here. Those Buccaneers creamsicle jerseys were great.

I mean, sure, in the end they ended up serving as a symbol for how hideous the team was, a la the first few Mariners uniforms. But you've got to like a uniform that...original.

Sorry, no. It was a coked-up fantasy of some NFL Executive who was deeply into disco, replete with Bucco Bruce winking at you on the helmet.

In the words of Dr. Byron Orpheus, "It was an abomination!"

I never had a problem with those uniforms.

I was talking with a friend and former colleague who's a quality Steelers fan.

There was a reason Matt Cassel was rolling up 400-yard games. They were ignoring the run. How other teams couldn't see that and dare them to run is mind-spinning.

The Steelers did dare them to run. Whoops for the Patriots.

    The Creamsicles were great.

The best unis in football right now are the ones with the old-school feel... Bears, Giants, Jets, Colts, Chiefs. I don't mind the Bucs' new duds at all.

Now if we can just get the Vikings to stick with tonight's duds, and make Buffalo go with the sweet throwbacks and San Diego go with the powder blues, all will be right with the world.

I'm also hoping Seattle comes out with a green alternate jersey, because bright, obnoxious shades of green speak to me for some reason.

It looked to me like the Patriots' normal approach against the Steelers. Spread the field and try to pick them apart underneath, mixing in lots of draws and screens. But Cassel ain't Brady and this is the best Pittsburgh defense I've seen in a long time. This group might be better than the Super Bowl championship team in '05, though there's a lot of season left to determine that.

New England was 0-for-11 or something on third down.

That sounds about right. I think they finished 1-for-13.
