I don't know any fan who at some point didn't look at a TV game, listen to the color guy, and think or say, "I could do that." Have to figure Brady thought that to the 1000th power. But it ain't as easy as it sounds. To be fair to Brady, it took more than one season for Troy Aikman to find his groove back in the day.

Agreed - I’m sure he can find a use for the money; I was just saying he doesn’t “need” it in any meaningful sense.

It's amazing how many people think they can do it better. Some wouldn't be a big step down – because some are atrocious and are mailing it in – but to do it really well is difficult even if you have a good crew and a good colleague in the booth.

I've done some color for radio ... not because I was just dying to. At one tournament, I was literally introduced at numerous junctions as "Sam Mills of the Podunk Times," therefore ... not easy and I had a really good PBP who I hope got looks in bigger markets. IMO, he earned it and not just because he didn't make me look like an idiot.

I really thought Brady's voice would elicit a viscerally negative response from me, but I've been surprised at how OK he's been. He doesn't make a game better, but he doesn't make it worse. That's an accomplishment these days! But I agree w/@DanOregon that his constant support of even the most meh QBs is weird. Brady was the biggest, most competitive asshole in the league. Why is he blowing smoke up these guys' asses now?

I remember something that Madden wrote in one of his first books, where, after he retired from coaching, he had problems at first emotionally about trying to find something to do to fill in all the extra time that he now had since he wasn’t coaching.

Then once he started broadcasting, he said that he now had a season to prepare for and look forward to, so that made his retirement so much easier.

To the point made by @SixToe ... what was there to discuss? Why drag the issue? Tell him he's let go. Make the time to tell the man in advance of the weekly presser.
For the third time today ... it's the Bears, I guess.

It's embarrassing, but there's been worse. The Mets made Mickey Callaway wait four days before firing him following the 2019 season. Their spin was they wanted to tell him in person so they had to drive to Florida and tell him. Hey assholes you could have told him on Sunday when he was at Citi Field! Of course, as we would later learn, Mickey Callaway deserved such callous treatment.

Praising mediocre quarterbacks is, consciously or unconsciously, a passive-aggressive way of reminding the audience you were the best QB of all time.

You folks demanding someone be fired in a matter of hours have never had to fire someone; or, if you have, that someone wasn’t under a contract and working in a state where you are required to provide payment for all wages immediately. I imagine the lawyers and CPAs weren’t activated until first thing this morning and took some time to cross the T’s.

Waiting until this morning to activate the suits and cross the T's sounds about right for the Bears.

Except that he has that thing. He's the owner of an NFL team. He can have a million real responsibilities.

And I think he's a terrible announcer, KB. I think Tom Brady is the master of stating the obvious, KB. And it always sounds like he is kind of yelling at me, KB.
