Broncos were 2-4 when Tebow made starter. Record after that, 6-4, in playoffs 1-1. Why is it intellectually dishonest to say that the Broncos won WITH Tebow? It's not the same as saying they won BECAUSE of Tebow. It's just what happened.

    Anyhoo, back to 2012 ...

    http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archives/2012/12/harbaugh-no-quarterback-change-imminent.html

Jim Harbaugh says he's sticking with Kaepernick, showing that it's not so much the "hot hand" approach as it is the "I always wanted this guy in there and I finally got my chance" approach.

So Kaepernick has a game-losing turnover that would've gotten Smith crucified, but he's still Harbaugh's guy. OK. Harbaugh better be right. That's the kind of decision that can leave a mark if it goes bad.

You don't moderate this thread or site.
I know you're here 20 hours a day, but we'll talk whatever we damn well want to talk about.

Jeff Fisher taking more than a bit of delight in some end-of-game errors by the 49ers and The Coach Who Knew Too Much.

On the 49ers' final series and giving the ball back with extra time left (this was really bad, Kaepernick's main error IMO): "They helped also because he ran out of bounds once and they threw an incomplete pass and so I was not expecting … I was expecting to get the ball back inside of a minute with no timeouts left. Instead, we have it with 1:48 and a timeout left, so that certainly helped our cause."

On the ill-fated pitch play: "I don’t know what they were trying to accomplish there, but we took advantage of one of their mistakes."

If the Rams get as good as Fisher is threatening to make them, this is going to be one entertaining division the next few years: Harbaugh, Carroll, Fisher. Maybe the Cardinals can hire Lane Kiffin!

The Steelers know how to Play. Football. Cowboys don't have a clue.

  9. Here's the fun part of this whole saga. Tebow haters are adamant about him not seeing any playing time in situations where Kyle Orton and . . . wait for it . . . Mark Sanchez, are the starters. Even if you hate Tim Tebow to the core, at some point, you can't feel good about arguing on the side of either of those two other QBs. Yet, they continue. Tebow isn't very good. I'll admit it, but neither are those two guys.

Me? I like Tebow, but certainly don't think he's anyones long-term answer. But for the situation, trying to jumpstart a team that mark Sanchez is loosing control of? Kind of like last season with the broncos? Sure, why the hell not. It certainly cant get any worse.

But no, we will continue to trash Tebow and make fun at anyone who says, why the hell not. We have nothing to lose at this point. All the while overlooking 10-31 for 97 yards and three picks. Yea, that's rational.

    Tony Romo's backup with Dallas.

Just FYI, the radio talk show homers have called him the best backup QB in the league.

  12. Here's the thing with Batch. Every time he has had to come in for Ben over an extended period of time, he has gotten better from one game to the next. he is a guy who doesn't dress ever for games, and sees limited action in practice, but the haters, and a large majority of Steelers fans, expect a Madden-like performance out of him.

Listening to Steelers talk radio after the Browns game was comical. Everyone calling in killing the Steelers for not having better options at backup. I would venture that 60-70 percent of the teams in the league do not feel comfortable with their backup taking over if their starter goes down. Hell, I would bet 20 percent of the teams don't feel comfortable with the starters they have at Qb.

I will say this, even at 37 or 38 or however old Charlie Batch is, he makes pretty good reads, has good control of the huddle, usually gets rid of the ball early. You can;t ask much more out of your backup, AND HE IS THE THIRD OPTION.

He was pretty dreadful in the Browns game. He actually looked pretty good yesterday. His miss of Wallace in the end zone was bad, and that will be something most people see, but how about the throw he made the Wallace earlier, in a tight window, and hit him in the hands? He dropped it, somehting he has done all season, but that's another topic for another thread. Add that catch, or the Sanders drop in stride that he would have likely taken to the house, or at the very least a 30-40 yard gain, and Batch is over 300 yards on the day. Both of those throws were perfect.

And let's not overlook the obvious . . . as ridiculous as it is, Joe Flacco was outplayed by Charlie Batch AND Byron Leftwich in the two games this season. Not necessarily because they played better, although Batch did, but because he looked bad . . . shaky and off target on may occasions and looked bad in the pocket.

Say what you want. If Ben was going to miss another game, and I don't think he will, I would choose Batch over Leftwich in a heartbeat. I'm not wearing black and gold glasses, but Charlie Batch isn't any where near as bad as some have let on on this thread and on talk radio in Pittsburgh. and I would bet the mortgage that he is the best third-string option in the league.
