Yeah, I'm not sure how many teams could even stay in a game with their third-string quarterback. Batch does just fine for what he's supposed to be.

  2. :) Thats funny. But I think that's a pretty good role for Orton. He wouldn't be a deer in the headlights if Romo went down. That should be what most teams should want in their backup. There aren't too many Capernicks out there. And to address what the talk show hosts are saying, I would imagine the 49ers have the best backup situation in the league right now. :)

Yeah, I'd take Alex Smith over Orton.

And Orton is no Jon Kitna.

I'll keep Kaepernick. Someone tell freakin' Delanie Walker to make a catch; guy drops more balls in the bread basket than anyone. That ball to him on the goal line was perfect, no one around and Walker doesn't even get more than a fingernail on the ball. Unacceptable. Then he compounds it by holding on the very next play, negating a good run by Miller and putting the Niners in a 1st and 20 hole.

Pitch by Kaep was awful but how about the softest play imaginable by Ginn? Ball is on the ground, either fall on it or bat it out of bounds or through the end zone. Instead, he tries to pick it up. Total lack of game awareness. STUPID! (BTW, as great a returner as he is, he gives up a ton of yards, waiting around and looking for the big run instead of catching and running upfield.)

The Rams played lights out yesterday and David Akers needs to make that kick. I know it's a long boot, but if he can hit a 63-yarder at Lambeau, he should be able to kick a 51-yarder indoors.

When the Niners are good, they always seem to have problems with the Rams. It's been like that since the 1980s. Don't ask me why.

I know they'll probably still win the division and definitely will be in the playoffs, but is the "genius" label on Jim Harbaugh showing some tarnish?

I think he's always been viewed as an douche egomaniac who thinks he invented football, but his missteps this season have been interesting. Starting with the Peyton Manning chase, then denying that ever happened because Alex Smith is his guy, then Smith gets hurt and after being cleared, Harbaugh goes with Kaepernick because he's the "hot hand", then the ridiculous play call that cost them Sunday and the announcement that he's staying with the guy who isn't the "hot hand" anymore.

If Kaepernick is making mistakes like he did in a regular-season game in a vanilla environment like St. Louis, what happens when he's in the playoffs against a good team and possibly in a hostile road game? I guess Harbaugh's need to be the smartest guy in the room is more important than consideration of things like that ...

49ers-Rams is never a "vanilla environment"

Where's Dieter Brock to throw a key pick when you need him?

The problem is more with having the second stringer so freaking fragile.

I would draft a QB (3rd round) and keep Batch around to mentor the kid, knowing the world is ending if Batch is starting multiple games.
