Don't tell my wife I said this, but Peyton in the playoffs in no sure thing. I would love to see the Broncos make it to the Super Bowl, but weird shit happens in the postseason.

I wasn't that shocked about Kaepernick's game -- Nevada played in that kind of shitty weather often.

For eight years, the Pats have managed to always blow a game after Thanksgiving. It's just that most of the time, it was in the playoffs. Maybe this was a gift that will keep on giving.

    That's a good point. I hadn't thought about that.

Amazingly enough, with games against the Titans tonight and then the Chargers and Bills, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that the Jets could finish 9-7 and maybe even make the playoffs.

It seemed to be a bit overshadowed by other news, but Goodell mentioned something last week or so about expanding the playoffs to 14 or 16 teams... Seems to me to be a no-brainer...

The bye week is pretty stupid. This eliminates that. It would also ensure that more of the Week 16 and 17 games are worth watching.

Yeah, there will be some crappy teams that make the playoffs, but that already happens... Also, we've had two No. 6 seeds win the Super Bowl in the last three years, so it's not like people can whine about a No. 7 and No. 8 seed being a playoff pushover...

I'm trying to figure out what happens if they end up in a three-way tie with the Steelers and Bengals, which is a very real possibility now. Pittsburgh would have had to sweep the Bengals to make that happen, so the Steelers would be 3-0 head-to-head against those teams, but wouldn't conference record come first?

Point taken. Of course, it was gloomy and overcast, with a little bit of rain, all afternoon. Appropriate for the mood of the home team and fans, though.

Yeah, me too, or whoever it is who takes over. I would be happy for Reid to be that guy.

I assume they will expand the playoffs, but I hope they don't. I love the bye week and I think it makes the regular season meaningful. I think bye-week teams win something like 70-80 percent of the games. (I know I looked at it some years ago and it had tracked to about 80 percent in this format.) You could say it's home-field advantage, but that advantage disappears during the championship week. I think the week of rest means more at that time of year.

It's a significant but not insurmountable edge, which is what it should be.

Assuming both win next week, big assumption on my part, but I honestly wouldn't count Dallas out against Washington, even in December. Call me what you want, but the big reason Dallas lost the Thanksgiving game is because of turnovers and blown assignments and yet they still nearly came back to tie the game late.

You just described every loss of Tony Romo's career. Not like it was some random event.
