Man, all you Canadians are so xenophobic.

I'm sorry I missed this debate before. As much as I respect and enjoy our Canadian friends, I have to laugh at this idea that Tebow could play games like he did against the Vikings and Steelers, but would be shamed out of the CFL instantly.

Those super-speedy 215 pound linebackers? How would they handle tackling Tim Tebow when he rolled out and decided to tuck and run? I could see him bowling over people like he was Bo Jackson in his prime.

Ultimately, I think 09 Alabama would lose under CFL rules because they are so grounded in running the ball, more so than this year's version. But under American rules, and against a coaching staff superior to anything Canada has to offer? I like the Tide's chances.

Given how the season unraveled, I am a little surprised the team didn't start Tebow a couple of times. I can only think either (1) we see this guy in practice every day and know his limitations or (2) we don't want to get caught up in some fan-driven controversy.

I just wonder what on earth the Jets were expecting when they traded for him. Someone will pick him up in the offseason and we'll see the same debate play out again next year somewhere else.

Yeah, but who up there's gonna stop em from running the ball, even with only three downs?

And, when they need to throw it, they still have an NFL calibur quarterback throwing to an NFL star calibur talent like Julio Jones at reciever. What CFL DB is gonna cover Julio Jones? Not only is he athletically far beyond CFL DBs, but at around 6'3" and more than 220, he's bigger and stronger than typical CFL linebackers, much less their DBs.

Obviously Bama would need time to learn the new rules and prepare for the different style game, but there's no doubt which side would have the superior physical talent, and at virtually every position.

We should pitch this as a reality show.

    The Rouge Challenge. :)

Since you brought it up, I'll just say I love the rouge rule. In american ball, the kick in the end zone, touchback to the 20 (or 25), is the game's most boring wasted play. In Canadian ball, the kick in the end zone can be a big pile of fun.

Maybe that's the Argos' key to beating 09 Bama. Just keep piling up one pointers, the Tide won't know what hit em.

Here are the answers from this morning's breakfast:

    1) HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHAHA HAHAHA. No way. Tebow is an awful QB. Period.
    2) Not on any given Sunday could a CFL team beat an NFL team.
    3) No. Men against boys.

Well, at least he was honest with you (and himself) on No. 2.

You do understand what bias is, correct?

Funny how JR's friend's alleged view so exactly aligned with where his view was when last he left us. What a coincidence.

Regardless, if the guy only played in the CFL, and never American college football, and never American pro football, then his opinion doesn't mean much to me. He only has specialized knowledge of one of the three levels discussed here, if he never competed in either of the other two levels, then he has no frame of reference to make a comparison. Indeed, what he's seen of the other two levels is likely no more, and probably less, than most here. And, of course, there is the glaringly obvious bias factor.

And I tend to scoff at the "men against boys" argument when I see how rookies do in the NFL nowadays. Need I remind anyone that QBs like Andrew Luck, RG III, and Russell Wilson were in college football only a year ago and are not only starting, but STARRING, as rookies. I am 100% certain they were also better a year ago in college than Ricky Ray, Calvillo or anyone else the CFL can serve up. The top US college defenses are used to facing QBs a helluva lot more talented than the best the CFL has, and at the other positions, the size, speed and talent difference is even more glaring. "Men against boys" doesn't mean much when the "boys" side is bigger, stronger, faster and more talented at every position. I'm definitely taking Bama, IF they have time to prepare for the different rules.

And all I know about Tebow is that he was immeasurably better in high school, college and the NFL than any player in the CFL. Tebow won a Heisman trophy, college national championships, and took over a 1-3 NFL team and led them to a 7-4 regular season finish, and then a win over the Steelers in the playoffs--there's not a single player in the CFL that's done anything remotely similar to that anywhere other than their most wild-eyed childhood fantasies. So, based on that garguantuan difference in credentials, I'm gonna guess that he might do OK up there.

Ya, Tebow is a terrible QB. Not on the level of guys from Sacramento State or Utah State.
