NFL Week 15: Mike Phipps' late delivery

I'll take the opinion of my son over pretty much anyone here on SJ. He's the ex CFL'er I asked.

He guffawed on the Tebow question ("He's a horrible QB. Period" ), looked at my like I had two heads on question 2 and more or less said, as good as an NCAA team might be, they wouldn't beat a team of older, more experienced team of professional football players. That's the men against boys argument.

And maybe I missed it, but anyone here play college football?

Canadian college football does not count.

I didn't play college football, but did your son explain how an older 275-pounder fares better against a younger 300-pounder?

Also Tebow has two career 300-yard games in the NFL. I think he'd probably be OK against a bunch of guys who couldn't make it out of NFL training camp.

Tim Tebow did. Won two national titles and a Heisman.

And on a related note, this is my point: You've determined that Tebow can't play in the CFL because you think he sucks in the NFL. But the two quarterbacks you've referenced to make your point weren't even good enough to have the chance to suck on that level.

That last line shows that you have now reached the desperate, flailing-around stage in this failed argument of yours.

Anybody who pays attention realized it was your son you were talking about, which is one of the reasons I understand your refusal to give up no matter how clearly wrong you are. You don't want to admit how inferior the league your son played in truly is. Sorry if you took it all personally, but neither of you seems to be in touch with reality on this one.

My son's opinion is that Elmo is the greatest literary character of all time. It doesn't mean I have to believe it, too.

Well, hell, if it's your son, then that absolutely rules any questions of possible bias out of consideration here.

Seriously, JR? I'm damn happy for you that your son's an ex-CFLer, you must be proud, I would be too, congratulations, but you've done nothing but undermine your credibility on this argument with that little revelation. However, it does help explain some of your more irrational posts on this thread. It's virtually impossible for anybody to be even close to objective on anything that involves their kids, that much I learned with certainty.

You'd probably best be suited to stop posting on this issue now. Seriously.

I never took any of this personally. Ever. But I respect my kid's position.

I've always thought of this as one of those sj bar conversations. And I may have been over the top at times but hey, it's sj.

Let's put this one to bed, OK?

    It's not important anymore.

    Thanks.

I kind of thought we had put it to bed before you bumped a thread with no replies for 22 hours.

Sorry, this thing called Christmas interrupted things. Didn't know there was a time limit on responses. Guess I missed that memo.

    You guys already had Christmas?

    That's a weird place.
