Coughlin fired in Jacksonville - Khan said he'd decided earlier that he wouldn't be back, but I'm guessing the NFLPA news made it require immediate action. Still would have offered him the chance to step down on his own given his career. Figure Marrone is gone as well.

Coughlin out as Jags' executive VP of football ops

Not in this case. I think he had to send a clear and immediate message of conciliation to the union: "We noticed your grievance about our impermissible demands, we apologize and we are making amends. Now can you please rescind the admonition to potential free agents?"

Do you know what Ernie Adams does all day? Might he be someone in the Patriots organization who could have been involved?

Don't be so sure Marrone is gone. There is some sentiment that he might deserve a chance without Coughlin circumventing him at every turn, paying ridiculous amounts to guys like Bortles and Norwell, and giving him such a horseshit roster. And someone is coaching up Minshew.

I would really like to see the Patriots make a "Do Your Job Video" about Adams and his duties.

Watched the Belichick/Saban HBO documentary last night and there was a minute or so bit on the "Do Your Job" jive. But overall a pretty good doc.

Centennial Class Finalists announced. Still think this was mainly a way to get Tagliabue in. I'm thinking the committee will be doing a hell of a lot of vote trading "Vote for mine and I'll vote for yours kinda thing." It is curious that there are many HOF selectors included on the panel - but they didn't want the normal panel to handle this. Almost like there were particular voters they wanted to avoid. (Cough, peter king, cough, cough).
Not in Hall of Fame - The PFHOF announced their Blue Ribbon Committee for the Class of 2020

finalists for the Centennial Class are:

if you were to rank those people in descending order of likelihood of gaining admittance, you would have to drive to the nearest landfill and grab the attendant and put her on that list before Art Modell. That’s not a comment on his worthiness but on his chances.

Sabol would seem to be a no-brainer. Can't believe he's not already in there.

Buddy Fucking Parker led some of the worst Steeler teams ever, and was the guy who cut Johnny Unitas.
