I took German all four years in high school and Sprockets came out during that time.

Three of us guys in that class were SO obnoxious about it. At least we had a really hot German teacher who was cool with it.

 

Wow. Haven’t seen hot German teacher on the Poin bingo card. This has potential.

Is it just me? Or are player incentive bonuses getting more play from the media and more celebrations from the players than ever before?

 

Mrs. K was 24 when she got hired. My best friend wakes me up at noon, the week before junior year starts.

“Dude! YOU need to get to orientation and see the new German teacher! I’ll drive us.”

Oh my. Just gorgeous.

She was newly-married to a 45-year-old executive and had a huge house. End of the school year, she hosts a pool party for all four German classes.

To this day, I’ll never forget her answering the door in a red, two-piece with a pink Budweiser tank top covering the abs that would be revealed later.

My friend and I were giggling like Beavis and Butthead at that moment.

After about an hour at the pool - she was bringing all of us appetizers in her two-piece — I’ll never forget noticing about 20 boys and, maybe, two girls.

We didn’t want to leave. At all.

Mrs. K knew exactly what she was doing. And she liked the attention. And we liked giving it.

 

Poin opportunity squandered.

 

For six years, I used to get ratings bonuses when the Nielsens would get released four weeks after the end of each ratings period.

The night Osama Bin Laden got caught, a Sunday night, we had a 26 ratings / 76 share when the late news would have been on. Didn’t even have local newscast. But the “number” had to be based on what the number was during when that newscast would have been.

Our ratings tripled vs. May the year before. Just because of that aberration.

Bought a new roof and remodeled the family bathroom with the bonus. I celebrated as if it was a million dollars.
