NFL Week 4 Running Thread: Didn't some QB wear No. 4?

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Inky_Wretch, Sep 24, 2008.

  1. Not for nothing, but Santonio Holmes' TD had more to do with Santonio Holmes shedding one tackler, bumping off another and outmaneuvering a third (IIRC).

Ben just hit him on a slant, which is what he's supposed to do.

You say that like the advantage of experience at quarterback doesn't count. That is the Steelers' only real advantage over the Ravens. They have a better, more experienced quarterback and better depth at receiver.

I think there are more people to blame for what happened against the Eagles than Tomlin. Part of that is on his offensive coaches. A bigger part is on the players. Getting outcoached was part of the problem with the pass protection against Philadelphia, but the offensive linemen were also getting beaten man-on-man far too often and far too quickly.

Edit: Now Oz beat me to it.

I'm guessing Chuck Noll was overmatched his first few seasons. Cowher should have been canned before he won his Super Bowl as well.

Tomlin is fine. I am not so sure about Bruce Arians.

That was definitely an outstanding individual effort by Holmes, but only after Roethlisberger bought a little extra time in the pocket and made a tough throw into decent coverage to get the ball there.

After stepping up in the pocket and avoiding the pressure. He did have to do something other than throw it.

I think it should be noted that this Pittsburgh defense has a chance to be very special. Maybe the best since the Steel Curtain special.

Farrior, Foote, Harrison, Woodley and Timmons are an incredible set of linebackers.

The secondary, with Polamalu playing out of his head, could be as strong as the Lake/Woodson group.

Hampton and Smith are a very strong pair of anchors on the d-line.

I do wish more would have been focused on the lines in the last draft, and I would hope to see Dixon involved in a gadget play or two in the next few weeks.

  7. So I suppose we should also give him credit for putting his helmet on correctly :D

    Shocking stuff. ::)

Former NFL draft bust Tony Mandarich says he used steroids at Michigan State and faked a drug test before the 1988 Rose Bowl.

He also said during an interview on "Inside the NFL" that will air Wednesday on Showtime that he did not use steroids in the NFL but was addicted to alcohol and painkillers.

When did the NFL thread morph into Stillers.com? ;D

I'm convinced you can't get more than three Steelers fans together without somebody calling for the coach to be fired.

I'm glad he's putting one on at all.

I'm glad they were booed at the end of the first half. That's what was needed for Roethlisberger to get mad at the situation and to act like a captain.
