Complete decay of the roster. After Brady left, one by one the vets of the old era began retiring. They were not replaced. Little additional new talent was added either. Replacing Belichick would've been impossible in any case, but replacing him with a guy with no prior head coaching experience just compounded the issue. The league's weakest roster (maybe except for Carolina) and a rookie head coach is not a formula for success.
