  1. Testicle cancer jokes are still OK, though, right? I've got some great John Kruk material ..

Yeah, Dennis Miller sucked about as bad as you can suck on national TV.

And yet these bozos, and their producers, learn nothing from history.

It's a football game. On Monday night. Call the football game on Monday night.

Screw the drama and the over-produced preview. Say hello, watch the kickoff, go from there.

Exactly, and while I'm all for breast cancer (um ... maybe that came our wrong) the wife shit was ridiculous. They said they were going to feature her, so of course they let her do the voice over on some stupid childhood videos of Favre growing up, about the fourth disgustingly sappy and embarrassing element in the five minutes directly leading up to the game. I figured we were done, at least with her. Nope. They STILL bring her up in the box and STILL show her 10 times in the stands.

They catch so much grief, not just from us, but from everyone, about the hero worship that I just can't understand why they don't check it. It was obvious they were going to not just slide over the edge, but fly off it at 100 mph the day they announced the schedule. This was a train wreck coming since day 1. And they still didn't do anything to check it.

They're good people, smart people. I like Tony K, I like Jaws ... looking at the way ESPN is hiring the best from our industry, I can only assume the people making a lot of their TV decisions are competent as well. Which makes it even more difficult for me to understand what their motive is. I'm not talking about the after the game crap -- after he'd won the game with a great pass. I'm talking about the pre-game and all the crap in the middle that wasn't in any way related to his actual performance on the field tonight. It's just sad.

I loves me some Favre, and I had the sound off all night.

Pretty good night, from where I'm sitting.

Well now that this week is officially over we can start focusing on the greatest game ever between the Colts and Patriots....

Patriots will win by at least 21 and all of the slobbering about how great this game is going to be that will surely go on this week will seem a little silly

All that dramm and stuff with Deanne Favre should have been done in the other MNF preview shows since they have about three for the game. But that drama during the game was out of hand. Let's just watch the damn game and here some talk about the game and frm around the NFL from the guys in the booth. The entertainment is supposed to be on the field, not about the people putting on the game.

I had to cover a meeting so I missed most of the first half, but what was really annoying to me was having Vince Vaughn in the booth during the fourth quarter of a tight game...

    Nice post, Pilot.

Somewhere in The Offices With the Window Views, someone musta thought all that crap was Must-See Television.

Monday night, at 9 p.m., the football game is Must-See Television. We had a great match-up here, and a great game, as it turned out. We don't need anything else, and especially all the manufactured bullshit that came down on this game.

Too bad there's no Tecmo Super Bowl clip of that pass...

ESPN will keep doing it. When Favre's gone from the league, it will be someone else. They don't understand restraint.

ESPN's far from the only culprit. Nowadays, it is not only acceptable for members of the media to be cheerleaders, it's often encouraged. It's pretty shameful.
