I think the Bills are really going to be challenged and do not feel good at all about this matchup. But I'd feel worse if they were playing the Chargers. As always, preparing myself to be disappointed. It's SOP in January for Bills' fans.
Got an offer to participate in a decent-money picks survivor-type pool, where you pick the winners (no spread) in 3 games this weekend, then 2 games in the divisional round, 1 game in the conference championship weekend, and the Super Bowl. Can pick a team only once throughout the entire playoffs, and if you miss one, you're out. Feels very strategic, because you could get to the Super Bowl and have already picked both teams previously, so you're automatically out. Probably have to look ahead and try to make the picks from the Super Bowl backwards, and not from this weekend forward. Not sure I can find 3 games this weekend that I'm that comfortable with. Probably a good thing.
Baltimore, Chargers, Buffalo. In that order. I think that's a decent bet, although you never know overall. The NFC I wouldn't touch (maybe, really just maybe the Eagles?).
I don't know what to think about the Broncos-Bills. Obviously the Bills shouldn't lose this game. But the Broncos didn't get their doors blown off against anyone but the Ravens and scored a lot of points in general, and sometimes in some interesting ways. If the defense can hold the Bills back even a little, it could be a close game. I don't know how much it matters, probably not a lot, but the Broncos did win there last year.
Agree completely on Baltimore and the Chargers. But in a survivor pool, you can't pick Buffalo this early and have them be unavailable for future rounds. Same with Philly, imo. I have no gut feeling on Rams-Vikings. And Tampa-Washington feels like a coin flip, too.
Good point on not having the Bills around later, although they definitely become more tossup as you go. Would you pick them against the Ravens? Seems like an unwinnable challenge overall unless it resets.
They would be my current pick. I have been high on the Lions all year and they haven't really done anything to change my mind, but the Ravens are just solid.
