Harris is a solid back behind a weak offensive line. He and Warren aren't the problem. This team invested heavily in the offensive line and it did not pay off this season. To be fair, they lost their starting right guard, his backup, and their first-round pick for the season. They also lost their left tackle during the game last night. The 10-3 start was a mirage. The Steelers are a long way from being real contenders.

Tony Gonzalez said his phone was burning with messages suggesting the Steelers might accommodate or facilitate Tomlin’s move to another team. If he wants out, the Steelers are one of the few teams — maybe the only one — that might allow him to go without demanding a huge ransom. Just as a statement of respect for what he has done etc.

This is the organization that stuck with Ben Roethlisberger after two rape accusations. They stuck with James Harrison after he smashed the mother of his child in the face with a phone. They have as ugly a history as anybody with steroid abuse and CTE. I'm not writing this to say they are bad guys. They aren't in the gutter with Haslem, but they aren't any better than most of the league in terms of morality. They need to stop hurting the team by trying to portray themselves otherwise. They should be getting proper compensation for Tomlin.

Steelers’ string of eight consecutive seasons without a playoff game win is their longest since the first 39 years of their existence.

Longest active streaks of seasons without a playoff game win:
    Dolphins 24
    Raiders 22
    Commanders 18 *
    Bears 14
    Jets 14
    Panthers 9
    Broncos 8 *
    Steelers 8

    * Playing today

Latest of the 1,374 coaching rumors surrounding the Bears is that the team might be interested in trading for Tomlin. Of course, they seem to be interested in everyone.

That new stadium in Buffalo seems to be going up fast.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Steelers go to the well that got them the first pick in the second round for Chase Claypool. Trades for coaches are rare. Some have been very costly. The Jets got picks in the first, fourth, and fifth round for Belichick, and this was with only his time with the Browns on his head coaching resume. The Raiders got two first-round picks and two second-rounders from the Bucs for Jon Gruden. The Jets gave up picks in the first four rounds for Parcells.

Tomlin's resume may not put in on par with Parcells, but it is better than the rest.

I really hope the Steelers don't play too nice on this one.

Heidi Gardner can’t be in enough commercials as far as I’m concerned.

That's true. It was his third playoff game. Three of the next four were QB ratings of 158.3, 138.7 and 145.7. :)

Broncos not planning to stop the run appears to be a good strategy.

I remember exactly where I was for that last Commskins playoff win -- at a Damon's in Portland, Ore. Was a 1:30 PST start and I was in town covering NAU-Portland State hoops. Was a glorious day.
