You know that contract Minshew got for ‘24-25? Yeah that’s what Darnold gets, anything more is wasted $$.
You didn’t watch Wilson the last five games this season or Fields most of his pro career, did you? I'm not suggesting they pay him $40 million a year or even $30 million, which I think he was on track to get before the last two games, but he might be the best of a lousy set of options. I doubt they are going to get him. I think the are just dumb enough to run it back with Wilson and some other franchise will be even dumber and overpay Darnold, but I think the latter is the better option.
In the spring and summer you can find me putting on golf shoes in a parking lot with a shoe horn. And yes, I'm 95 years old.
Wins are wins, but that was a really soft 14-3. (And yes, I know Washington's 12-5 was even softer.) The Vikings won nine straight before the last two losses, and the first eight were against teams that didn't make the playoffs. They had three wins all year against playoff teams, and two were against the Packers, who were this close to going 0-6 in the NFC North. The other was against the Texans at home in Week 3. Went to bed at halftime last night, but from what I watched, Darnold looked nervous and at times overwhelmed. Probably as poor of a two games that you could put on film with a contract on the line.
Holds on to the ball too long in tight situations trying to make a big play happen. It’s the only thing holding him back.
He also seems to struggle with making decisions under pressure, which isn't exactly a good trait in a quarterback.
Right there is an off-night where you play well and make the right decisions but your throws are off target for whatever reason. Then there was last night where he looked like a scared as shit first-time JV starter playing against St. John Bosco's varsity.
