I thought the Chargers told San Diego to go f_ck itself ...

Jesus, man. As a full-on Justin Herbert fanboi it feels unfair to me that I now have to root for the Chargers. That was brutal.

(As a sidebar, I realize I have made this argument swimming against the tide here throughout the season... but Al Michaels seems just utterly bored and disinterested now, and that game was a low point. Yes, Tony Dungy is absolutely as bad as it gets, but Michaels couldn't even focus on the final game-winning kick.)

    Yes, quite morbid.

Who was worse on wild card Saturday last year, Brees or Dungy? It's close.

If I’m Spanos, Staley doesn’t get on the plane home.

Sure, in the same division as the Oakland Raiders … ;)

Where’s a copy editor when I need one?!?

I agree on Uncle Al and I'm the biggest Uncle Al guy here. He got the boot from NBC for no good reason. Shipped (literally) to Amazon when he should be lead on Fox with two of the next three Super Bowls. He seemed off tonight. Like he was announcing remotely and the feed was a second or two late. No doubt working with an amateur like Dungy didn't help. And he put it out that he didn't want his partner starting this year to be a rookie and I thought he and Herbstreit had a good year. But then he gets a seventh-grade "analyst" put onto him for the first time and instead of teaching Comms 500 he's back in third grade trying to carry things.

My wife said the exact same thing.

I think I got about half of it.

It was definitely not an advertisement for the value of a college education.

While I’m not a play-by-play guy and I’m at about 0.0002% of the level of Uncle Al, I can say this from 25+ years of anchoring.

If I’m on set with a co-anchor I don’t respect, think is low energy or not very competent, it takes a lot of my own energy and discipline to be my best.

My previous shop was a dream of a co-anchor (I’ve written about her here). It was like I was trying to impress her on a first date. Every. Day. For years. Made me want to be my best.
