I know the analyst-room talent is a bit thin, but I can't fathom that they could not have come up with a better option than Dungy to pair with Al.

And I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it almost feels like NBC is greasing the skids for an all-time great who has lost a little off his fastball.

Because NBC only has one NFL game a week, it has no place to develop a bench. The same thing afflicted ABC/ESPN when it had Monday/then Sunday/then Monday Night Football. Disney finally had to poach Buck and Aikman for megabucks to stabilize that broadcast.

    That's an outstanding point, Michael.

There is something off about the Chargers - don't know what the deal is with the Spanos family is - but there is something off about the organization. Multiple GMs and coaches, but they always find a way to underwhelm. I'm guessing its just weak, aloof ownership. You hire a guy with four years as an NFL assistant and just one as a DC - you get what you get.

It is a freaking billion dollar enterprise. Last night's game will land in around the top 25-30 most watched tv programs of the year.

Have a frigging backup. That person can do the Thanksgiving night game, and something else.

    This was pathetic last night.

When ABC had the Saturday games they had Musburger and Vermeil on Team 2.

Whatever gravitas Dungy is presumed to have the man simply has no personal charm.

No, he was admonishing me for my commentary about the Etienne postgame interview.

Gotcha. I thought I may have missed something since I read most of the conversation last night, then his comment this morning.

And if the game was a stinker (which it mostly was) then 78-year-old Michaels and 67-year-old Dungy would have been the ideal pairing.

Why it was selected for the Saturday prime slot is baffling.

Chargers didn’t lose because if Bosa; well that offsides did loom large, or Staley, the Chargers scored 27 off 5 turnovers which is pretty good. They just couldn’t play D, their pass rush was gone (Bosa was zero factor) and their tackling was bad.
