Do you guys believe the NHL will have a lockout come September? If so, do you believe it will last long, or do you believe they'll come to agreement before that?

Lockout, with games starting in December is my guess.

Wow. I actually agree with JC!!

I sure hope these people are smart enough to have learned from 2004-05 and not take the fans for granted. Yes, they came back after the lockout and the game is more fun with the rule changes and so forth. But let's not screw up a good thing.

Missing any games is dumb. Missing an entire season is a disaster.

This really makes me question my original position on this.

Do you have dreams about me at night or something?

It seems I am so much in your head, you can't even think anymore about anything without mentioning me. Why is that?

    Geez, get a grip.

So this is my pet peeve of the moment, and I realize this story is now a few days old.

If the report that the Hurricanes are balking at entering the Nash sweepstakes are true because the asking price started at Jeff Skinner. Really? What do they think it will take to get Nash? To say Skinner is a non-starter is to say that they believe he will be a better player, not just down the road but soon, and I just don't see it. This is no slight on Skinner, he is and will be a terrific player, but he is not Rick Nash, one of the premier forwards in the game. I'm starting to see this more and more. To me the Staal for Sutter trade was refreshing. A straight hockey deal.

It just boggles the mind sometimes.

Agree 100%. Howson may be barely competent as a GM but he has made it clear that is not going to give Nash away, nor should he.

It's been bugging me for a while. And I know GMs are going to try to get the best deal they can, but damn they just seem unrealistic in their expectations sometimes. If Howson does give Nash up cheap, he should be canned on the spot.

It's the same in Toronto with Luongo, if Burke is dead set on getting him, he's going to have to give up something, even with that ridiculous contract.

So the NHL basically tells the NHLPA to go fuck itself with its first CBA proposal.

Guess we won't have hockey in October next year. Good thing they waited until now to start negotiations

Yet you are still going to have morons who take the owners side. Obviously this will be nowhere near where they settle but for fuck sakes.

You always expect a bit of a low ball offer out of the gate, gives them room to work, but damn this isn't even remotely realistic. I would be insulted if I was on the NHLPA right now. With an offer like that you'd expect the league to be in dire straights, not posting record revenue and profit levels. Yes there are franchises that are struggling, but many of those reasons extend beyond the CBA, like bad ownership, bad markets and bad business deals. The current CBA does need work, like a cap on length of contracts, but, shit, this is ridiculous.
