Quick question y'all, if they lockout the entire year, do contracts freeze for the year or is everyone burn a year?

Like a lot of other hockey fans, I don't care any more.

I don't care which side wins.

I don't care if they shut down the season

This is a dick swinging contests between Gary and Don.

The only good thing that would come out a lockout is-- no fucking Winter Classic.

If there's no WC I'll forget that my best childhood memories were playing hockey in the rain in a football stadium. But I'll get over it.

Wouldn't argue with that at all. The fact that they didn't start negotiations until about a month ago was a big red flag that a lockout was inevitable. It's impossible to take sides in this kind of a shitshow, they're both colossal fuckups and are writing a how-to guide on how to piss away a multi-billion dollar enterprise. Nobody is going to win in this lockout. We all lose.

I wish I could say nothing could be better for junior hockey right now, but now that the CHL is bringing in a players union, I wonder if we will see a work stoppage there eventually.

And it was my little brother who was wondering about a burned year of contracts, I wasn't sure one way or the other.

Just really picking up on the negotiations. So, is it pretty much inevitable that a lockout's going to happen? It'd be nice to go more than a year or two without one of the sports having some kind of labor strife.

There will be no CHL union, I can't believe that idea got as much notice as it did given how colossally fucked up it was.

It is easy to pick a side in this, it is not the players who are refusing to play. Fuck the owners. Move 2 teams, dissolve 2 teams ad everybody wins.

Agreed, except for the last part. I was going to attempt to go to the Winter Classic in Michigan. Always thought it would be cool to be at one of those in person. Had plans to attend the Heritage Classic in Calgary in 2011 and got hurt four days before and was flat on my back in bed. Pretty bummed. Maybe someday I'll get the chance.

I was at the original in Edmonton and it was pretty cool, but I was more interested in the alumni game between the Habs and Oilers which was pretty cool. After that, the nostalgia of freezing my ass off in minus-27 C kind of wore thin.

That is too bloody cold. Somewhere around 0 wouldn't be too bad for a couple of hours. I've done that for football. Dress warmly and have some gloves and 0 (Celsius) ain't too bad.

Michigan on Jan. 1? Who knows?

I'm guessing the league will wait as long as possible before announcing any official cancellation.
