Alright, you're selling me. Oops, poor choice of words. You're convincing me. ;D Still, 57-percent is insane, IMHO.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/dollars/post/_/id/897/nhl-seeks-revenue-sharing-a-la-nba-nfl

NFL players agreed to reduce their share of league revenue from 50 percent to 47 percent, and NBA players agreed to reduce from 57 percent to a 49 to 51 percent range.

Yeah, because the NHL is in such great shape that there's no *way* it could fall apart if it lost its star power...

I think the NHL's star power is overrated compared to the NFL, MLB and NBA. It could survive without some of them. Not all of them, mind you. Might serve pro hockey as a better business model considering its role in the overall sports marketplace.

These guys picked a really great time on the sports calendar not even to be negotiating.

In a week, no one will care.

Maybe down in the U.S. In Canada a lot of people will still care and a lot of people will still be pissed off.

I will note, though, for those down south, the KHL looks like it will be broadcasting a handfull games on ESPN3 this season.

So when does EF head over for Hockey Night in Moscow?

    Beef,

ESPN3 is very obscure. It's an internet only streaming service, not an actual TV cable channel. And, in order to get it, you have to be getting your internet feed through one of their (few) selected providers.

Can't tell you how many people get it, but it's never been available anywhere I've lived. I suspect there are a number of sites that do streaming of KHL and other European leagues.

Never realised that. I thought the live streaming thing they did was ESPN360 or some such. Can't get any of the ESPN channels up here, just TSN and TSN2 and then the Sportsnet channels. Still, if you can get ESPN3, you can still get your fix.

Finally living in an area that gets ESPN360 through my internet provider, I can say that it is awesome.

It is cool if you can get it. There's all kinds of things you never realized you wanted to see until you saw it was available. I like to watch the Australian Rules Football.
