    On Tavares ...

John Tavares can't get the idea out of his head.

Tavares told Sun Media last month he has tried not to think too much of becoming eligible for the National Hockey League draft in 2008, a year before he would be eligible under normal circumstances.

But after practising with his Team Canada teammates yesterday in Mississauga in preparation for the 2007 Canada/Russia Super Series, the 16-year-old Oakville native acknowledged that getting a green light to fast-track to the NHL would be all right.

"I would love to be drafted to the NHL a year earlier," said Tavares, who has 117 goals and 94 assists in two Ontario Hockey League seasons with the Oshawa Generals. "Anything can happen, you never know. Things have happened before and the draft has been changed.

Appropriately, it resembles the Superman symbol. :D

Yeah, even before the draft that's what they kept calling him. He had an undistinguished career at Notre Dame from all I've heard and was never considered for the national junior team. Not sure what he's got now....

They could have gone with the Star of Gabriel, too ... or a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes ...

At least that photo is better than that one creepy TV ad he did where he's standing in the shower

This will be great if the Russians ice their best team. The squads they have sent to the annual Canada-Russia junior challenge have been awful. I'd think they'd put a strong team together with half the games at home.

Sadly, you're right ... we do wait longer than Ontario girls.

I think in the "just out of teenybopdom" category, they possibly count as "hot".

Saw a bigger version of the picture in a couple of papers, the Brunette is actually no that bad (and isn't it cute? she's wearing an I love Sidney Crosby shirt, bleh), the bottle blonde on the other hand, not so much. A hideous set of teeth.
