It looks like NBC will air the "Ice Bowl" between the Sabres and Penguins on New Year's Day at 1 p.m. The game will be played in the Bills' stadium.</a>

The Caps have a long tradition of playing a day game on New Year's Day. Frankly, I think they could have picked a better day than this ratings-wise, but it should be fun.

I like the idea of the Kid playing outdoors, but I think the New Year's Day timing is another NHL mistake. Surely there has to be another time around the holidays that doesn't compete against a firmly entrenched sports-viewing tradition like college football on New Year's Day.

Another solid Gary Bettman moment, brought to you by NBC. I love the idea of the Ice Bowl, even though it has been done already, but it is foolish to go up against the Rose Bowl.

If the game is at 1 p.m., it will long be over before the Rose Bowl kicks off.

Well, this Yank/wanna-be Canadian will be jazzed for the game. Also, I have never sat through a televised parade, as they annoy me.

sounds like fun for us just over the border hockey nuts in canada who were too far out for the one in alberta

Sirs, Madames,

HNIC should do a pre-season show around an all-star street-hockey game. Not quite Ice Bowl but 100 % authentic pure hockey (i.e., something that would never occur to the Commish).
