And Canada goes 6-0 in the series with a 4-1 win. Canucks played like crap for the first two periods but I guess Sutter ripped them all new ones. Scored 3 in the third.

    The Russians look bloody awful.

It's almost like watching a AAA Peewee team play a house league team.

So does Canada sweep the series then? two games left and if the players are already seeming so disinterested that Sutter has to whip them into shape, it could get old fast.

    Sutter won't let them relax.

Remember, for some of these kids, this is an audition for the World Junior Tournament.

They'll all go balls to the wall for the last two games.

When do the Habs start to put exponents on their sweaters?

    I can see it now:

If I had thought about it for more than 30 seconds I probably would have figured it out. Thanks.

Leafs on the other hand are going to retire Aki Berg's number with a parade and a monster pre-game ceremony.

Oh, and did I mention that those robber barons over at MLSE are puttng 20 Leafs games on Leafs i.e. pay through the nose, TV? Up from 12 last year.

You should copyright that idea before it gets out ...

Yeah, the Flames are doing that more and more, too. Nothing like shutting out the everyday fan.

Well, Beef ... it seems you're not the only who doesn't like the Alberta patch ...

    http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/city/story.html?id=83643798-8d96-4147-a340-4f19b310719e

Surely the Calgary Flames must have seen this coming. It took only hours after the team unveiled its new jersey Tuesday for the backlash to begin against the Alberta flag on the right shoulder.

Calgary, already considered the most arrogant city in the West, is seen as promoting itself as "Alberta's Team."

Fans have been sounding off by the hundreds on various sports websites, many expressing disappointment with the Alberta flag patch.

"I can think of one (Alberta) team that has more right to that Alberta flag than the Flames do," read one posting on the Herald's website, where most of the negative reaction to the jersey was about the Alberta flag.

"The 2007-2008 Battle of Alberta doesn't need much more fuel to fan the fires, but maybe this could do it," says one comment on The Sports Network's online fan forum.

Flames president Ken King said the team isn't making any claim to provincewide domination. It's simply being a proud citizen. But that's not how many see it.

On calgarypuck.com, replacing the flame-snorting horses on the shoulders with the Alberta and Canadian flags drew the most reaction, with 52 per cent opposed.

And a letter in today's Herald:

Hockey - Re: "Flames sport sleeker look," Sept. 5

I find it sort of humorous that the Flames chose to put both the Alberta and Canadian flags on the shoulders of their new uniforms, especially in a city where the general tone is that we could care less about both our provincial and national counterparts.

To better represent the true driving force of this metropolis, a dollar sign and a hand with the middle finger raised would better represent the "new" Calgary's pride and attitude to others on a local and far-reaching level.

Or they could resurrect the old bumper sticker, "Let the Eastern Bastards Freeze in the Dark". ;)
