    Hopefully, glad to be back.

I hope Leighton is a feisty guy ... as long as it doesn't morph into being chippy. Bobby Clarke can have all of those, wherever he think he can now re-create the Broad Street Bullies.

Cullen was one of the top players who didn't play. Which would have been bad if it had gone to a shootout. The Canes stunk it up in shootouts without him last year and having him back will help there.

Is Brian Burke on the phone to Niedermayer now?

From AP -- New Ducks defenseman Mathieu Schneider will be out at least four weeks after breaking a bone in the left ankle during his first preseason game with the Stanley Cup champions.
An MRI taken Sunday revealed that Schneider sustained a non-displaced fracture of the ankle Saturday night in Anaheim's 3-2 victory over Los Angeles.

Newsflash: Team Blue beats Team White before sell-outcrowd.

Jason Blake has no clue why anyone would pay money to see a scrimmage. Veska Toskala played like Andrew Raycroft.

Details on Team Blue's parade to follow.

    Reasons why the pre-season sucks:

Vancouver Canucks winger Taylor Pyatt scored a pair of third period goals to give Team Blue a 4-3 win at the annual intrasquad game in Victoria, B.C., but the game proved costly as Roberto Luongo, Sami Salo, and Trevor Linden all left with injuries.

How far they fall ... he gets a tryout with Edmonton:

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=218438&hubname=

EDMONTON (CP) - Anson Carter is back where he enjoyed some of his most productive seasons in the NHL, trying to earn a contract and rekindle his career with the Edmonton Oilers.

When the Oilers emerged from the dressing room for the annual Joey Moss Cup final at Rexall Place Sunday, Carter filed out with Team Blue wearing an unfamiliar number amid distinctly different circumstances than the last time he donned Edmonton silks.

And last but certainly not least, we're off to a tremendous start on offence -- right where the Flames left off.

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=218507&hubname=

CALGARY (CP) - The veteran goaltenders at the other end of the ice may have got the win, but rookie Calgary netminder Matt Keetley's excellent performance made quite an impression on new Flames coach Mike Keenan.

Tomas Vokoun and Craig Anderson combined for 27 saves as the Florida Panthers blanked the Flames 3-0 in NHL pre-season action Sunday.

At the other end of the ice, Keetley stole the show turning in an inspired 31-save effort after unexpectedly being pressed into service when expected starter Curtis McElhinney took a shot in the groin late in the pre-game warm-up.

Why would the Canucks play Luongo?

He was scheduled to play half of the intersquad game, it was an unlucky shot to the throat, he will be fine. Luongo thrives on playing and if he had his way he would play every exhibition game.

At his own risk? Surely someone with some sense should stop that from happening. Gamer or not ... you want your top guy -- the only one worth his salt in last season's playoffs -- to risk the season by playing mean-nothing games?

Luongo better be okay before the start of the season because he is in one of my pools....damn preseason.

So should I look to get rid of Langenbrunner of my pool if he is possibly going under the knife?
