Just heard on Sportsnet that they sold 40,000 tickets in 30 minutes for the New Year's outdoor game between The Sabres and Baby Jesus and the 22 Disciples.

Even in the preseason, George Laraque is not to be fucked with:

MONTREAL (AP) — Canadiens prospect Mathieu Carle will be out eight weeks due to a sprained ligament in his left knee and fellow defenseman Andrew Archer broke a cheek during a fight.

Archer, a minor-league defenseman, was hurt in a fight with Penguins enforcer Georges Laraque in the first period. He left the ice bleeding heavily near the right eye. He spent the night in the hospital for tests and treatment.

Archer learns how to make himself famous the tough way.

There are easier, less painful and not life altering ways to earn a job in the league, young Andrew.

Memo to the rest of the league:

Do. Not. Fuck. With. George. Laraque.

    Sirs, Madames,

The best thing about the NHL if you're a player: The fact that Georges Laraque is such a nice guy, doesn't have a mean bone in his body. If he hurts you, he doesn't mean to--sorta like the trainer getting mauled by the bear. If he was mean, he'd kill or maim someone. Heard that from a lot of players.

    YHS, etc

His brother Jules-Edy played for the Halifax Mooseheads and his key role was enforcer on the team.
