    I notice that in the U.S., it's a fantasy-hockey league but in Canada it's a fantasy-hockey pool (obviously a frozen pool).

I think Avery knows this is his best chance to win a Cup. Plus, his idol, Brendan Shanahan, is in the locker room. Avery will be a prick to opponents, but he won't self destruct.

I think someone like Shanahan can keep him in line. Show him a little class, anyway.

I hope Tucker takes down Avery the next time they meet. Here's hoping he self-destructs.

Wick has her pout on ...

CALGARY - A frustrated Hayley Wickenheiser has passed up an offer from a Swedish men's hockey club in order to return to Canada.

The captain of Canada's women's hockey team was abruptly cut from Arboga, a Division 1 club two levels below the Elite Division, and even an offer from Eskilstuna Linden, another Division 1 team, wasn't enough to keep her in Sweden.

"Timing is everything," Wickenheiser said in an e-mail. "I decided to return home as it was the best situation for our family. I have said all along that I would only return to play in Europe if it worked out for our family.

"I am glad I went to Sweden to pursue this opportunity before the seasons really start. I am not sure if I will pursue it any further in the future at this point."

This is about as strange a story as it can get:

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=218765&hubname=

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Gordie Howe has won a temporary restraining order barring a neighbour from conducting surveillance on the hockey legend's home.

Howe, who has been the subject of a residential association dispute for more than a year, says he's tired of being spied on.

The former Detroit Red Wings star and his wife, Colleen, on Tuesday filed an eight-count stalking lawsuit in Oakland County. The Howes claim Lionel and Karen Dorfman, a retired couple in their 70s, have engaged in unlawful eavesdropping and invasion of privacy for more than a year.

The Howes allege the Dorfmans have had a camera snapping photos of their house every five seconds - more than 17,000 photos a day.

As much as I hate the guy he is a god damn effective player when he isn't self destructing. Maybe Shanahan's influence will keep him in check, until after this year when he is a UFA and some team overpays for his services. I wouldn't want to give long term security to this guy

    Nicely played, Huggy.

The story later quotes her partner, Tomas Pacina.

    I still don't buy it.

What could've been, I always thought Lindros was going to be an all timer.
