I forgot Halifax had a Word on the Street. I guess Mats turned a few heads because he was a hockey player around books. Unusual combination.

I was on the committee that started the very first one in Toronto. Going strong after around 20 years.

So, I was flipping though the 2007 NHL-produced preview mag today. I came upon the Flames and Darryl Sutter said the following about Mike Keenan:

"Mike's greatest ability as a coach--I've seen it--is to get the maximum out of top players. And our team has five or six of the top 30 or 40 in the game. I think our top players want (a firm hand). It's another way to bring stability to our organization."

Mike Keenan? Stability? Organization? Since when?

Yes it was yesterday but preseason hockey dictated my day. That and imbibing alcohol...

Hope you have plenty of extra kerosene and a couple pairs of gloves to protect from blisters. You could be shoveling for a while.

To be honest, I got free beer too! I invited friends who wanted to go and in exchange for the free tickets, I got my share of free beers before and during the game.

With Raycroft's performance last night and Toskala's allowance of a soft goal in the first period of another preseason game, goaltending does not look that promising for the Leafs. Leafs fans should worry.

Where's Cujo? I am thinking that the Leafs could probably use him right about now.
