Hell, I'd settle for Johnny Bower or Turk Broda.

Remember how Ryan Hollweg said the Chris Simon cross-check incident was forgotten? Yeah, not so much.

I really enjoyed not watching the game. MSG Network aired boxing and FSNY aired rodeo, so no hockey. I was left to watch Drew Brees throwing multiple picks and the Mets' sucktitude.

No, I wouldn't have wanted to watch a line brawl on the Island. Naah. I would not want to get even more excited for the season.

Well, I'm glad to see there's no love lost in NYC. Sounds like a fun time.

Love this quote from Bill Guerin about last night's proceedings:

"When I talked to (Mike) Sillinger, I asked if there would be any overflow from last season," new Islanders captain Bill Guerin said. "He said that it was over. He was kind of wrong."

    Yup. Kinda wrong.

Bill Guerin is the Islanders captain. I think I'd rather have Pierre Turgeon captain my team before Guerin.

I'm not a big Guerin fan but I thought his comment was kinda funny.

Yes, because the first few games of the pre-season are a rock-solid bellwether.

First few games....the season starts next week. Still, the Leafs are in trouble with goaltending regardless of the preseason or regular season.

    Sea,
    You're right about the pre-season. Doesn't mean much---usually.

I don't know whether you saw the game but Raycroft was absolutely Lalime-like in his awfullness.

After Schubert's second goal--from the perimeter--the camera caught Schubert rolling his eyes, as if to say, "How could any goalie let THAT shot in"?

Raycroft was awful last night. JR, why did you remind me of Lalime....shrug...

I cannot believe it's almost time for hockey to start again.

I also cannot believe a thread on hockey in summer reached 71 pages. Jaw agape. Without looking, I'm assuming 90+% of the content herein had to originate from Canada, correct? Well, done, northern brethren.

And there is going to be a new thread for the regular season once that starts, right?

Well, Canadians and Hockeybeat but I hear he's applying for refugee status.

Someone will strt a new thread when the season starts, I guess.
