HB, it almost looks like the NY teams were trying to make sure everybody would look forward to their matchups this season. I know butts will be in the seats at MSG, but surely some Rangers fans would gladly find some tickets in Uniondale, wouldn't they?

2007-08 Rangers home games are all sold out.

The Islanders sell out for the Rangers because of (A) the rivalry and (B) there is a good percentage of Rangers fans on the Island; it's tough, but not impossible to get NYR-NYI Coliseum game(s) tix.

Not a pretty clip, HB, for sure. Downie might be expecting a call tomorrow ... blatant charging.

Prior to the hit, though, I got to giggle my ass off ... Upshall dangling at his own blue and stripped by Alfredsson. It might make me cheer for Alfie ... er, probably not ... but just for a few seconds tonight.

It was a blatant charge and he left his feet. There was a deliberate intent to injure.

That's a real good way to create a bad reputation throughout the league. I can't wait until Downie has to drop the gloves with a real tough guy and gets the punk pounded out of him.

Steve Downie is a gutless shithead who deserves everything he gets after this fucking cheapshot.

With any luck at all it will be Akim Aliu.

I hope someone knocks him into next week.

Yup.

When they were with the Windsor Spitfires. Third round pick by the Hawks.

He's a big strong kid. He could take that puke Downie in a heartbeat.

Aliu won't be in the NHL anytime soon. Brian McGrattan is more than capable of dealing with this and if he's not available Chris Neil will be.

Downie is a very talented player. He can also be very stupid as he showed here. The league should throw the book at him.

"Can be stupid" isn't strong enough. Give him any time and the first opportunity he will be stupid. I just hope when he goes off and does something truly out of line -- this Ottawa deal won't be the worst of it -- the flag-waving columnists who godded up Downie off the world jrs will acknowledge the error of their ways. A punk. And he didn't use a racial slur with Aliu -- he cross-checked him in the mouth, knocking out a couple of teeth ... in practice. Retaliation for not going along with rookie hazing.
