He's a repeat offender in the OHL that's for sure but that won't enter into this discussion.

I bet he gets at least 10.....

Yeah, I am thinking 10 games then.

Tim Wharnsby did an article when the Bertuzzi/Moore incident went down and Colin Campbell's job in how he reviews what takes place on the ice. It is called, Judging Bertuzzi: Late Nights, bad blood and a spoiled snack. I had to review three articles from the Bertuzzi incident for a big term assignment in journalism school and thought it was a great piece. I will try to find it and post it up here so you all can have a look. While the McAmmond/Downie incident may not be the same, the way the NHL looks at the incident is interesting.

Rick Jeanneret was the backbone of that team. He's the man.

No not a small person at all, it's called human nature.
Downie is a god damn puke and deserves to be suspended that was a filthy hit.
One question I have is is it just me of do more players these days seem to have "Lindrositis". Keep your head up and do not admire your pass.
This by no means excuses Downie launching at his head and late but I see more and more players skating with their heads down.
This is also a great example of why the instigator is a terrible rule. Downie does not have to answer for his actions.

Yeah, "I did not mean to do it" doesn't cut it as a reason Downie.

One thing that will definitely work against Downie in the league's eyes is he was clearly looking for payback after getting hit by Schubert. This was no random collision that resulted in a head check.

In this case, though, I don't think McAmmond was admiring a pass. He was completely defenseless.

Don't disagree with you there, but leaving your feet does make it easier to drill a guy in the head with your shoulder.

    Mr Bass,

Staying on the ice and raising your elbow / forearm delivers a bigger payload.
