    This is all I saved:
Guessing BigLead might have something, since he's the one who originally teased it. Checking....
    Yup, he's got more.

Well, considering that Lidstrom is also in his generation, probably not. Even the biggest winner thing isn't a sure thing, since they both have three Stanley Cups.

Hell, I think Scott Stevens is/was better than Niedermayer.

Good point. Forgot about him as I was responding to HB's post.

I'd disagree with you. Maybe early in his career he was close, but Niedermayer has the whole package. Stevens was a great physical player, but Niedermayer was a much better skater and playmaker and he makes a great first pass. He sees the game a lot better than most too.

I think a lot of the time he was playing in the shadow of Stevens' reputation and he maybe got lost in New Jersey as even in the Cup years, they weren't exactly a popular team. Had he been playing on a non-trap team elsewhere in hockey, I think Niedermayer would have received a lot more acclaim from early on.

As for Niedermayer and Lidstrom, that is a good debate.

How about having Niedermayer and Lidstrom playing together rather than Pronger and Niedermayer?

I think Pronger and Niedermayer match up together with their contrasting styles better than Niedermayer and Lidstrom would.

That said, this is like saying: Would Gretzky and Mario have been better than Gretzky and Messier? It's greatness, regardless.

Think Niedermayer is retiring, Buck? I think so.

Depends on how much the Ducks can offer him for next year. While I don't think this is a money ploy, by any means, I do think they could make him an offer he can't refuse.

Boy, what a devastating loss that would be for the Ducks, though. He's still on top of his game.
