I don't think it is a terrible trade. The Leafs get two NHL caliber players for draft picks. Toskala should be the No. 1 and Raycroft is better suited to being a No. 2 goaltender.

Wow. 1st, 2nd AND 4th. That's an awful lot to pay for a team that missed the playoffs.

Like Raycroft, Toskala is a pig in a poke.

He only been in the league for three years. hasn't played even 1/2 a full NHL season and he's 30 years old.

Not what I'd call the next anything.

Maybe I'm a pessimist but the Leafs now have three back-up goalies.

Only Toronto could fuck something like this up.

Mark Bell's a 20 goal guy. Hardly worth a first and second round pick

Mustard: 4th is in the '09 draft.

And the phone lines are burning up on the Chuck Swirsky program at the FAN Leafs Nation is OUTRAGED, absolutely OUTRAGED

Some idiot just claimed that Toskala is one of the top goalies in the league.

A Leafs message board already has a twelve page thread--and growing--on the deal. http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=392059 Maybe JFJ can work out a deal with Phoenix for Nick Boynton.

Better, but not by much. You could maybe make a case for this if Bell hadn't been horrible last year. I'll have to read that thread, because I'm having trouble figuring out why anyone would think this trade is a good idea for Toronto.

Nick's a local kid from nearby Nobleton, Ont. I've dealt with him a number of times, he was always good with me. I bet he'd like to be reunited with his old Ottawa running mate Bell.

Waiting on Mr. Friend O' to weigh in from Cbus with his thoughts on this, particualrly Mr. Bell.

Another Leafs fan board is up to 12 pages on the deal. http://www.tmlfans.ca/forums/index.php/topic,54349.0.html

    Can't say I expected this:

    Penguins re-sign Roberts, Recchi

Guess it's a wash. Looks like they're overpaying for Recchi and getting a bargain on Roberts.

And this guy's usually pretty good, as far as Pens rumors go:

No! No trades for Crush! He's the reason I switched to the Penguins when I abandoned the Flames ...
