If he comes cheap, I wouldn't be stunned if Rutherford signed Bates (hey, you could bring the BBC line back together). He's shown he likes to bring back former players. Tanabe didn't work out that well and bringing back Vasicek was brief and didn't seem to work out.

No kidding. I can barely watch this stuff because of him.

Right, because Balsillie is some rube who fell off the turnip truck and decided to buy an NHL team.

And anybody who argues that putting a team in K-C, Las Vegas or Houston over SW Ontario doesn't quite get it.

Pens extend Ryan Whitney to the tune of 6 years/$24M.

Fan boards also buzzing over possible Kariya signing. Though I can't tell if it started with Eklund.

Briere to Philly, with an 8-year, $52M deal.

EIGHT years AND a "no-movement" clause?

For a guy that has never had a 100-point season? For a guy that has had ONE season where he scored more than 65 points?

I understand that he's young. And was a star for the Sabres. And was arguably THE hot property on the market. But good grief.

I hear Scott Boras is putting together a leather-bound Sidney Crosby proposal right now. He's going to ask the Pens for 19 years and $635 million.

Brian Rafalski signs with Detroit. I don't think re-signing Gomez is most important now to the Devils.

    Gomez signed by Rangers
    Drury next?

    Good fucking grief.
I can understand losing Briere. Have no problem with it all. But Drury? Unfuckingbelievable. I was a big fan of Drury, actually both him and Briere mainly due to their stance on wanting to stay in Buffalo and not worry about the big bucks, but deep down I knew Buffalo was going to fuck this up and lose both.
