Why not just bring the Cup to Philadelphia.....in two years.

I am liking the signings, even though Breier got way too many years. Plus, with the two trades they made, I may actually watch the Flyers again.

I record SportsCenter on DVR every night and watch it the next day. That way, I can fast-forward through the crap and watch what I want. Time spent on all the moves in the NHL? Sadly, 26.9 seconds.

Not sure the Flyers have the goaltending or defense corps to win a Cup.

I'm serious. On July 2, Tom Renney potentially has three good scoring lines, a good checking line, tons of speed; depth on the blueline and a great goaltender. There's no reason that the Rangers can't win The Cup this season or next.

We've got to resign Lundqvist though. I know the Rangers will, but I'd also like to have Shanny back as well.

Lundqvist and Avery are restricted free agents. Shanahan is a UFA, but has said he wants to be a Ranger next season. In a conference call last night, Tom Renney said he felt confident all three would be signed.

Red Canuck hit all the points bang on.

It reminded me of our friend's FoF's blog on watching a Swedish elite game.

    http://garejoycesgames.blogspot.com/2007/01/djurgardens-prison-blues-worst-game-of.html

After a short time I wondered if the Swedish elite league depended on captive audiences for its numbers--that it didn't need to paper the crowd but rather detain it. The game was awful. There was likely more hard hitting over at Stars on Ice than there was in this Swedish Elite League game. No forechecking whatsoever. In fact, when a defenceman would take the puck behind the net, the other team would leave the ice en masse and substitute five players, one of them actually skating as far forward as the opponents' blueline. A few times a defenceman wouldn't even bother to go behind the net to leave the puck for a forward circling back--he'd leave it in front of the net, about ten feet in front of the crease. Not like there was any danger that someone might chase it down--trap is not just the default mode, more like a matter of genetic coding. The build-up for plays was glacial.

They don't have the goaltending. They never have the goaltending. It was a problem when Lindros was there (before the concussions) and it's a problem now.

There's a reason you're not sure. It's because they don't even remotely have the defense or goaltending to win the Cup.
