Comrie should have gone to the Kings to complete a rather odd grouping of free agents signed this week.

Agree with the balls comment, but they have goaltending in Lehtonen and Hedberg. Their problem in the playoffs was they didn't stick with one.

    Hasek re-signed in Detroit tonight.

And, memo to Kevin Lowe: Shut the fuck up already. I'm sick of your whining.

The Leafs are supposedly after Muckler but as Damien Cox points out in his blog today, it's got nothing to do with hockey.

    http://thestar.blogs.com/thespin/2007/07/the-big-lie.html

It's also a very nice summary of 50 years of Leafs dysfunctionality.

This is not about the Maple Leafs looking to add depth, experience and expertise to their hockey department. In fact, it could add confusion, disagreement and dissension. The Phoenix Coyotes, for example, were not pleased with the way in which Cliff Fletcher functioned as "senior consultant," and fired him. Muckler couldn't co-exist with Bryan Murray. This is not like having grandpa clipping hedges in the backyard, available if you need to know how to find a good plumber.

Add in Brian Hayward, Steve Penney (I think), Stephane Fiset, and that's about all I've got too.

Okay, I'll take the fun out of this for someone. Doug Soetart, Randy Exelby, Vincent Riendeau, Frederic Chabot, Rollie Melanson, Pat Jablonski, Ron Tugnutt, Craig Billington, Rick Tabaracci, and Les Kuntar also played on the same teams as Roy - though he might have been injured at some points, so they might not have all been his backups.

    Wow. That's impressive.

So, of those, who had the best career?

    Tugnutt?
    Billington?

Tugnutt, a good Toronto guy, was pretty good for a bunch of teams. Billington is now Colorado's player development guy.

Wow, Steve Penney is a name from the past. What year was his big playoff run for the Habs?

Tugnutt was famous for that game against Boston when he was with the Nordiques and stopped 70 of 73 shots. A bunch of the Bruins came over after the game to congratulate him.

Billington is famous for being the former partner of the gorgeous Kathyrn Humphreys of City Pulse News in Toronto

They need centers. And maybe another solid defenseman.

Not sure about the 70-of-73 game, but he was in the net for the Pens in the Game Which Shall Not Be Mentioned.
"After a while, guys were saying, what period is this? The sixth, no, it's the eighth," Tugnutt said. "Your mind starts playing tricks on you."
