Beef, I disagree with you a little bit about Fleury because I am more familiar with him here. He played with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and he was the goalie in the World Junior Championships for Canada. He has always been great in goal. Mind you juniors and NHL are two different leagues. He is a bit young but you'll see, he will mature and be one of the best goaltenders in the NHL.

Red Canuck, I do agree about the defence. They need to get one or two marquee d players for the team; however, I hope they don't compensate that with losing their young talent.

I hear that. I'm not saying Fleury can be the next Brodeur but you put a better defence in front of that kid and his confidence might go through the roof.

I listed Fleury last for a reason.

At 22 years old, though, I'm not sure how much more he could have done behind the defense he's been playing behind. If he picks it up, Pens are going to be incredible. If not, it'll be a lot of high-scoring games and early playoff exits.

Tell Dave Chyzowski that junior talent/ability translates into professional success.

Fleury needs to become more technically sound. He far to often overplays the situation. He overcomes this at times with his great athleticism. He is obviously very young and I imagine will continue to improve.
I agree on the defence not being good enough yet but there is one other thing that may prevent a dynasty, the salary cap.

Aaron Miller for a million for one year would have been a solid additition to that blueline just from a leadership standpoint, He could have been a Jason Smith type for that back end. instead he is only going to help solidify Vancouver's backend. Would have loved to see him in Edmonton as well as a cheap replacement for Smith.

Go see the Van Sun. Elliott did a story on the defence. Unlike Pittsburgh, the Canucks can build from the goal out.

I sure hope so. I'm liking the future, once they got a couple more guys locked up long term.

    Cold War. "Ice Bowl" = Packers/Cowboys '67.
Not that NBC would know either way. ;)

I'm curious about the scheduling, though. The WGR rumors include New Year's Day, the Bills' last home game is December 23rd, and it apparently took almost two weeks to set up the temporary rink in Edmonton? Something in that timeline does not compute.

If it does happen, though, I am definitely there.

Right. Ice Bowl. And wasn't the Giants game, where the fans pelted the field with snowballs, the Snow Bowl.

Creativity is a tough thing, I suppose.
