I agree with Flash on this.

Kid hasn't played two full seasons in the league.

    Lowe's on acid.

I meant Cam Neely. Neely didn't do much in two seasons plus a little bit in Vancouver.

Sounds like the next Steve Sullivan.

I know you meant Neely but I don't see the point in Lowe taking that much of a flyer on this Penner kid. I'm saying Jarome Iginla was a $4 mill guy three years ago. Is Penner an Iginla right now? No.

Ah yeah. Three years ago. It seems that the NHL is doing the salary escalation thing - like the Canadian Dollar - and Iginla wouldn't be available for 4 mil per ass a 27 year old.

I wish the Leafs were as crazy as Lowe is, cause Penner would be their best young player and their Third Best player overall.

But the Leafs are the Leafs aren't they ... .

You're right, alan. And the Edmonton Oilers who whined and fussed and cried about exorbitant salaries are now dealing with their heads solidly lodged up their collective anus.

I admit, I am shocked they are shopping Stajan around. He is one of the only bright lights on the Leafs these days. What the hell is Ferguson Jr doing?

Derek Roy gets $4M per, avoiding arbitration.

    Canadian Press

    7/27/2007 10:52:30 AM

BUFFALO, N.Y. (CP) - The Buffalo Sabres have avoided salary arbitration with Derek Roy, re-signing the forward to a US$24-million, six-year deal.

His arbitration hearing was scheduled for Friday in Toronto. Roy will earn an average of $4 million per season, a huge raise over the $627,000 he made last season.

The 24-year-old had a career-high 63 points (21-42) in 75 games in 2006-07, his third NHL season. He was also a plus-37, fifth-best among all NHL skaters.

If Derek Roy is worth 4mil per, then Lowe underbid for Penner.
