Speaking of commentators showing humility, I'd like it if she went down and worked in the minors first before being thrust back into the HNIC spotlight. She has a lot of work to do if she is going to do this as a fulltime gig. It is a craft that takes years to perfect. You can't just jump into it because you were a former athlete. Many try and many fail.

That she actually improves before she's back on HNIC

    ROFL!

She's not necessarily the best interview either ... Of course, then there's Wick ... tough battle for Queen of the Cliches.

JC, I am aware that Millen does colour, but there is no mention as to what is happening with him. CBC is supposed to make some sort of announcement in Sept or all the placements. Cole and Neale are working reduced schedule so Millen must be coming over to work the East games.

Also, Flash, there is no way Cuthbert would come back to CBC whether Moore tries to woo him or whomever else. The fact is that he was treated shabbily by the network and Cuthbert would not go back to that. Whether it's HNIC or doing Olympics, Cuthbert would be stupid to come back to the place that shafted him. And why would you go back to a network that is going to lose the rights to the Olympics after the Beijing Games, lost rights to curling because of a bad job of coverage, and losing the CFL after this season. CTV/TSN is looking a lot better and while CBC may have HNIC, there is not much else other than soccer and a lot of amateur sports. CBC is not even renewing their rightsholder deal with ISU for figure skating (which is a good decision). CTV even snatched the NFL away from Global and that network is sitting, looking pretty right about now and Cuthbert knows he is the present and future of CTV/TSN. Cuthbert would probably want to do much more sports broadcasting than HNIC so coming back to CBC may not be feasible for him.

If you think movie nights are an option for CBC to replace all the sports they are losing/going to lose, you have to be kidding me...

Moore is a great thing for the CBC but Lee did too much damage that may be irreplaceable. Brian Williams was smart to leave. He knew the crown corporation was sinking ship in the sports department. Yeah, I know that HNIC is probably the only thing that CBC needs to survive in the sports broadcasting, but they only have a seven year deal. If they don't improve the show even further, well, CTV will get the NHL in 2013-2014. Najak's hiring as executive producer is a good move and I think he is up to the task to revamp the show.

Look ... you got pwned. PBP guys aren't colour guys and you suggested four or five colours to replace Cole.

    Suck it up. Move on.

I'm sure CBC knows where they can go to find more PBP guys. I happen to know four or five guys off the top of my head that are currently brushing up their resumes.

Had no idea Ottawa was even in the running for Forsberg ...

    http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/sports/story.html?id=934714ed-bc30-4933-8e15-74aeb1886bbc

Don't hold your breath waiting for the Ottawa Senators to sign Peter Forsberg -- or any other high-profile free agent forward, for that matter.

Senators general manager Bryan Murray has turned down the volume on the talk this week that the Senators were after Forsberg, saying the team is pressed against the $50.3-million US salary cap and isn't in the position to add any big name players.

If another team comes knocking at the door during training camp or early in the season with a trade offer, willing to take on the contract of goaltender Martin Gerber (two years, $7.4 million US), then the door may open for the Senators to pursue an established star.
