Well played sir. Still, even at half past ancient, I bet Leafs fans will be clamouring for Belfour's return pretty early in the season.

Columbus has entered the Peca lottery ...

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=216469

While the Blueshirts appear to be the odds-on favourite to land free agent centre Michael Peca, the Blue Jackets aren't prepared to accept it just yet.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the Columbus Blue Jackets have inquired about Peca's services for the 2007-08 season and will likely to get an answer on Monday at the earliest.

"I've spoken to Columbus about Michael," Peca's agent Don Meehan told the Dispatch. "We've talked to a number of teams, really, and I'll sit down with Michael on Monday to discuss where we want to go."

The Blue Jackets have more money to spend after learning Friday that centre Alexander Svitov, who signed a contract with the team last month, is opting to play in Russia next season.

JR, you are in my good books today. Brings a smile to my face everytime I watch that goal. One of the few bright spots of last season.

It's a sad spot for one of the all-time great goalies. Maybe not so much a great humanitarian, but neither was the greatest – Terry Sawchuk.
He should just call it a career and enjoy the millions he has earned over his career.

This may be my absolute all time favourite hockey highlight.

I'm still waiting for Stefan to put that damn puck in.

Speaking of players signing in Europe, did I hear correctly that Stefan will be plying his trade over seas next year?

Don Meehan gives the Rangers a deadline for a Peca deal ...

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=216568

If the New York Rangers want to sign Michael Peca, their window of opportunity appears to be closing.

According to the New York Daily News, Peca's agent Don Meehan wants a deal done by today or his client will sign with another team.

"We're probably going to force the issue by (today)," Meehan told the New York Post. "If I can't reach him (today), we'll just go our separate way."

Heard on XM's hockey channel today that Forsberg's dad contacted a Western Conference team to let them know his son was interested in playing there. This team had never shown any public interest in Forsberg.

    Anaheim?
    San Jose?

I thought San Jose tried to trade for Forsberg at the deadline.

    Maybe Calgary?
