Those two guys the Ducks signed probably got slightly more than they should have, but the team is still $10M below the salary floor. If they add to the physical element the Ducks need, it'll be OK. Their youngsters definitely got pushed around last season, and you knew when there was a puck battle along the boards, the opponents would win it.

Cosmo's head is safe. I guess they really are going to run it back with the hope that maybe they can be healthier and that will make the difference.

BTW, yesterday when I said I was happy for Ryan Strome and what he got from Anaheim. ... I was reading a little while ago that the Rangers offered him 5 years at a bit more money during the season and he turned it down. I dunno how true that is, though. But he might have aced himself. By all accounts he wanted to stay in NY, so I hope an agent didn't convince him there would be more $$ if he went to free agency.

Ottawa could be really good with what they have managed to put together draft night and in free agency.

No. But the likelihood of a return is pretty small and, if he does, you figure it out then. That's a good get. As I told my son, if they can sign Kadri (unlikely), do it and worry about the cap later. There are moves they can make.

They HAVE to get younger and I believe Strome is 25? They haven't really had a young player hit it big since before I left DC in 2014. And I don't think McMichael (or McYou as my son calls him) is the one.

To be clear, I'm advocating for McMichael to get more time down the lineup at the pivot, not to be a second-line center right now. But he needs to play center if he's going to develop properly.

Matthew Tkachuk has informed the Flames he won’t sign long term and he might be traded within the week. Tough break after Gaudreau.

Brady Tkachuk had no issues signing the max term deal with Ottawa, but Canadian fans are getting worried that American players don’t want to stay up here.

Given the choice, I’m not playing in Alberta either.
