That sucks.

 

Didn't the Wings used to have a guy with the last name of Fuk? I recall a couple of broadcasters going to p.r. to verify pronunciation.

Actually it’s Martin Frk and he’s with the Blues

 

Other than the 90-grade name, Frk has a huge slap shot and basically no other discernible skills. He's managed to play 124 NHL games, albeit spread out over six seasons.

 

That’ll teach him to never play Lady of Spain again.

I find it interesting how hockey culture for so long just accepted treating people deplorably and playing psychological games with them as just good coaching - Bowman, Keenan, Sutter, Babcock.

Funny thing about Babcock - I know a family whose kid got to go to a Red Wings practice as a Make a Wish event when he was sick, and they raved about how Babcock could not have been nicer to them. People are complicated.

 

It helped that those guys all won Cups (assuming it’s Darryl you’re talking about).

And at all levels of hockey, from Novice house league to the NHL to beer league, there are otherwise excellent people who become complete reprobates when they either don a hockey sweater or carry a clipboard.
