That can't honestly be the official cup ring from '94 can it? so weak if it is. Never thought the Rangers would skimp on putting a diamond or any kind of rock in the ring.

Looks like a high school grad ring.

    Sorry pal.

Although, I am reminded of what Neil Smith said when he acquired Nathan Lafayette. "That he hit the post," the former Rangers GM said after being asked what he liked about Lafayette.

those rings are kind of lame.....it looks like the ECAC ring I was received.

    JC,

You may remember that there was an extra day off between Games 6 and 7. Kevin Lowe has always said that if there had been the regular one day, the Rangers would have lost. And probably badly.

About Bouwmeester: At the end of the day, I think Florida always believed one of the Flyers or Canucks would cave in. And when Calgary made their run for it, they were certain the Canucks would. Credit to Gillis for holding firm, because both Hughson and Hrudey said trading Bieksa would have been a huge loss for their room and their defence. But, Gillis was very interested, and hoped it would be Martin who caved.

George McPhee said Martin wanted Karl Alzner, Simeon Varlamov and John Carlson, a first-round pick from last season. That's ridiculous for a rental. I can understand why teams said no.

Oh I do remember. There still people in Vancouver who cry about that and Gregson's reffing.

The price for Bowmeester was way to high. Draft picks and young players are to valuable these days in the cap system to be trading them for rentals.

This is the first time I can really remember GMs showing actual restraint at the deadline when it came to picking up rental players. There's usually someone willing to roll the dice for a Tkachuk, Guerin, Hossa, etc., and mortgage the future for a potential run now. That was definitely what the Panthers were banking on, but I think they are just as happy to keep him and send a positive message to their fan base. Could GMs have actually learned their lesson? It has finally sunk in, I think.

What is that positive message? A so called positive message to your fan base at the expense of your future is ludicrous. A smart hockey fan wants to protect the future of their franchise. If they're a cup contender than fine, I could see keeping him, but they're not.

You'll enjoy him next year in Edmonton Beef.

I know he's an Edmonton guy, but what's to say he doesn't end up in Vancouver anyway?

Or is the pull of playing for the Oilers going to be too much?
