Whitney signed in July 2007 and was traded February 2009. Staal signed in February 2009 and would have been traded within a month. There's no comparison between the two.

I'm sure they're trying to HB...at least I hope so. But what teams really need him? Buffalo could have used him...but they picked up a goalie yesterday........all the other contenders have definitive #1's.

Move Manny to St.Louis for Tkachuk!

Lightning get D Matt Lashoff and F Martins Karsums, give up a 2010 2nd rounder to complete the Recchi trade.

Lashoff appears to have a pretty good rep coming down, anyone tell me anything more about him?

Dont understand at all why Tampa would trade a second-round pick. Must have really liked Lashoff.

Lashoff is a very good prospect.

Because, as we saw as soon as they took over last summer, throwing around draft picks is this groups MO.

Remember the picks they threw last offseason for negotiating rights to guys like Malone, Roberts, Prospal and Rolson?

NHL Live, via TSN, is reporting that the Rangers are hot for Derek Morris.

The thing I'm getting to thinking is there aren't many people out there bidding on guys, which is why there's been a lack of deals. Who else is going to be in on Morris other than the Rangers?

My guess is that we see a few deals that go down close to the 'line where we're left thinking 'That's all they gave up for him?'

Reading some blogs, it sounds like there are plenty of teams who are interested in him, but want to wait and see if Bouwmeester goes somewhere first.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette now saying that, too.
