Unless things changed drastically in the last 24-to-48 hours, Bouwmeester hasn't said that he wants to re-sign with the Panthers. Maybe they feel like they can add to a pretty good core while being able to deal Bouwmeester for something.

    Most impressive deals so far:

Calgary getting Jokinen for Lombardi and Prust

Tellqvist to Buffalo for draft pick .... tells me they are worried about Ryan Miller's health

Recchi to Boston for Lashoff and Karsums.... veteran forward with lots of playoff experience

Really surprised the Leafs haven't sold off someone: Antropov, Ponikarovski, someone...

I'm not sure if the Panthers move Bouwmeester and, for example and pure conjecture, get back Ohlund, Burrows and a pick from Vancouver, that they're not buying.

What they are doing is making sure they keep themselves driving towards the playoffs, and don't lose Bouwmeester for nothing in the summer.

That is the exact archaic attitude that gets teams in trouble. You haven't been paying attention if you hadn't heard he's on the block. There preference is to sign him once you can't do that you HAVE to trade him. They NEED to be a strong organization and you can't lose your best assett for nothing. What does scraping into the playoffs and losing 4 straight do for your organization? Ask Atlanta how just trying to get in the playoffs worked out for them a couple years ago with the Tkachuk and Zitnik trades.

Anyone else get the feeling Burke's playing a pretty big game of chicken, and he's going to get the other guy to blink and give a little more.

the rumoured deal out of Vancouver is Bieska, Mayson Raymond and a first rounder. Unless you get him signed I don't make that deal if I'm Vancouver.

I think your right on what Florida would take, they would need someone who could play now as well as futures.

I honestly think Vancouver has everything Bouwmeester wants, and would have a great shot at getting him signed to an extension, which is why they seem to be the lead team in this.
